Family Gathering for Blake's Blessing

Tiffanie and Chelsea (Aaron's sisters) and their families were down in California for the weekend. We decided to head to the beach for a day of fun and sand castle building. The nieces and nephews decided that they wanted to be part of the scenery instead of just enjoying it. So, I helped them. We got home and found sand everywhere--I can only image the places that they ended up finding some.

Sunday we had Blake's blessing. here we are just outside the church. It was a beautiful day and apparently the blessing went well too. Thanks everyone for the support and the visits. We had fun, but I think Blake appreciated the time, energy and money that was given up to come out and visit the most. I hope the good memories out weigh the other ones. Thanks again.

Lil Blake

Our friend Katie made this beanie for Blake, which he wears on our walks every night. This is a couple of weeks ago. Isn't it a cute beanie? Thanks Katie!

8 Weeks

Like Father, Like Son...
Blake loves to watch TV with his dad. He has enjoyed the playoffs!

Here is Blake just hanging out.

Blake now smiles for us! I'll go ahead and say it...he smiled for me first. It is hard to try and capture his smile so we are glad we have a digital camera.

Is this normal?

Monday night we came home from our walk to find our carpet downstairs really wet. Aaron went outside and discovered water gushing out from under our house, which we didn't think was normal. It ended up being the main line that comes into the house, which meant that about 15 other houses had to have their water shut off as well. At first the plumbers thought it was a slab leak and would have to drill our cement floors out in our living room. Good thing that didn't have to happen. Now we are just missing a wall and a patio...and have noisy fans. What's the next adventure going to be?

My folks are in the current edition of the Church News. Check out the great work they are doing. http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/57359/witnessing-the-kindling-of-the-great-gospel-spirit.html

Here is a picture of us with my folks on the day they left.

Visit from Richard

The other weekend, my Uncle Richard came up to visit Blake...and Aaron and I. He brought Blake a cute shirt from the zoo that he can wear in a couple of months and he also brought possibly the cutest flip flops ever. They don't fit him yet, but I can't wait until they do. Thanks Richard for making the time to come visit and bringing some really cool gifts!

Hmmm..next to Blake the flip flops look HUGE!

5 Week Update

Here are a few pictures and videos over the last week that we captured. Sorry for the delay to our masses of fans---we hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive us. :)

On the right, this is Blake's First Mother's Day. As you can see, he has a question.

He wants to know when it's time to eat.

Here we have little Blakey snoozing. Truly a rare occasion, but we will take them when we can.

We wanted to make sure we got a video of his hiccups. The worst time these things come is right around bedtime--jerks. Blake likes to punch, so we are thinking he will make a good boxer--anyone want to step in the ring with these swinging arms?

Blake decided that he wanted to be a male model, so here are a few head shots he wanted us to take. Things are apparently going well, he gave us the thumbs up.

We call the look in this picture "Blue Steel". For those Zoolander fans, you know what that means.

Oh boy! Daddy's in trouble again. He must be trying to get Blake to dance. Daddy knows better than to try that.

Finally, we wanted to say congrats to Meesa and Trevor for number three. That's awesome. We also noted that Tiffanie, Chelsea, and now you guys all start boy, girl, girl. So, Adam and Becki better follow suit with a boy first. I know we are already planning for a girl as our number two--in our standard 3-5 year period :)

The little guy speaks

So, if you listen really, really close you can hear Blake's first words.....

For those that didn't get it--he said, Happy Mother's Day.

It's Hair Today and Gone......

So Grandma was in town this past week and it was decided that new hair styles were needed. We all piled into the car and drove for two hours to Palm Desert--that's right two hours. We made a day of it out there with a stop at the outlet mall and some food after the salon visit.

Here is Michelle showing off those new locks.

Blake did pretty well in the car. We could tell he was rather sick of that car seat though near the end. Once free. he spent a good twenty minutes just stretching out his little arms and legs.

Well if Grandma's visit was predestined, it couldn't have been planned better. I decided to attend my basketball game on Tuesday night. Thinking that I am still invincible (and already getting a block during the game) I went up to swat my guy. Badly planned, I ended up toppling over him, landing right on my left elbow. I shook it off and finished out the game with about 20 points. I then headed over to a neighbor's house to help him move his piano.

After hardly sleeping that night, Michelle took me to the hospital while Grandma watched Blake. Turns out I had a radial head fracture (broken elbow). I guess I shouldn't have finished the game or helped move the piano. Oh well. Live and learn.

Grandma also helped with a number of projects around the house. Most notably we finished the decals in the nursery.

We also took a trip to the doctors for Blake's two week check up. He weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz, so they were happy that he was at least back up (and past) his birth weight. He also measured 21.5 inches (in the 75th percentile).

Here he is at the doctor's office. We thought it was a fun picture of his feet.

Here's little Blakey snoozing on the couch. He ends up in the weirdest positions--but cutest. This was the position he held while in mamma's tummy.

Finally, here's us on the patio. Grandma was nice enough to get us all in--well kind of :)

Thanks for coming Grandma and for all the help. You're welcome to come anytime.

Like Momma, like son

If you didn't think that they were related before, now you have to believe. You know the old saying, those who sleep alike, smell alike. Hmm, well maybe not but it sounds true.
