Kansas City Day 1

Wednesday morning we were on the road at 5am so that we could arrive at Great Wolf Lodge at 1pm because that is when you can start swimming for the day if you are checking in that day. The drive was fine and we arrived about 15 minutes before 1pm. We got changed and went to the slides.

We were meeting Aaron's brother, Adam and his family (who live in Chicago) and Aaron's mom and dad (who live in Denver) and Aaron's brother, Trevor and his family (who also live in Denver). We smoked everyone so we got a couple hours of swimming in before anyone else arrived. We picked KC because it was about an 8 hour drive for all of us. Aaron's sisters were unable to make the trip.

The boys were soooo excited when their cousins arrived.

We swam until we were hungry. Then our family and Adam's family went to go eat some hamburgers.

We got back and got the kids ready for bed and then they went to the dance party. Blake was all over it--he loves to dance.

Amy is a good sport. The grandkids taught her the floss

We put the kids to bed and then the adults went and chatted.

Getting Ready

June 26--we packed that morning and got ready for our trip to Kansas City, which we left for the next morning. The boys played with legos while I got everything ready. They even sampled the muffins I made for the trip, just to make sure they were not poisonous.

We had track practice and then came home and slept.

Playing with Friends

June 25--the boys went over to play at Reese's house. I stayed and talked with Reese's mom, Lana for awhile. We used to work together in scouts so we would talk all the time, but now we don't get to talk as much and she sure has a lot on her plate. It was fun to talk with her and then the boys had fun playing with Reese. We came home, ate lunch, and then went swimming.

Track Meet

June 23--track meet in Frisco. Dylan got 2nd, but they gave him a 3rd place ribbon because that is how official they are at these meets.

Next was the 100 since we didn't have enough kids for a relay team.

This is Dylan running the 400.

Blake lined up for the 400.

It was cool in the morning--like in the 70s folks, so Dylan said since it was cooler, then he would run the 400. By the time the 400 came, it had warmed up, but they still ran it. Blake told us that a lot of kids cry during the 400....it is true. And Dylan had a kid throw up while running the 400. Dylan thought it was great because then it meant that he got one place higher since that kid was in front of him, but then didn't finish that race.

The night before we had our friends the Ririe's over for dinner. They moved here last summer from SoCal. They are fabulous. He is the YM president so Aaron will be working with him more and she is my ministering sister.

Saturday after the track meet we had the Richard family and Campbell family over. This is how we do our ministering now. Haha. It was fun!

Cowboy Park

June 21: We went to the Cowboy park early in the morning.

As soon as it got too hot, we headed to the splash pad. It was packed, but they had fun.

We then headed to Costco. The boys had lunch there and we got our shopping done. Then we came home. This is Dylan's favorite hat now...he is Sherlock. Can you tell? His hat and his "pipe".

Beach Club

June 20: We went to see "Incredibles 2" in the morning and then after lunch, we went to the beach club. There was no one there because it was supposed to rain. It drizzled a little, but perfect for a day at the beach club.

Eye Mask

Dylan likes to wear an eye mask to bed because it is still light outside when he goes to bed. It makes me laugh.

Earlier that day we had Amy over to swim (this is Aaron's cousin), along with her kids and her mom (aka Aaron's Aunt Becky). It was fun to catch up with them.

Track Meet

June 16--we went to the track meet. It was the one that our team hosted so it was close. We get to the track meet and find our team, then we put all our stuff under one of our teams' tents. Then we wait for their events.

Here are some of the kids getting warmed up.

I had to work at the concession stand, but I could see a lot of it. (this is the view from the concession stand) Once I saw Dylan I ran over to catch his race.

I finished working (got some hot dogs to take back to the kids), then they did their 100.

I love big umbrellas blocking the view. LOVE IT!

Dylan ran the 50, 100, 4x100, 200 and 400. Blake ran the 100, 200 and 400.

The kids did great. Dylan really is good at the 50, but it was fun to watch him run the 400 because he had a great kick at the end. I love it when they don't quit.

Blake did awesome. He did really well in the 100 and also had a great kick at the end of the 400.

After the track meet, we came home and swam and ate some dinner. Then Aaron took Blake to get ice cream and I took Dylan to get shaved ice. He loves that it turns his tongue red. I then took him to get some new shoe laces because he is awesome at tying his shoe laces, but the laces that he had were falling apart and it makes it hard to tie.
