Dining Room

I finally finished the dining room. It took forever to finally get my fabric, but reupholstering them wasn't as bad as I thought.

Cool Car

June 6-Restaurants are opening, so we went to one of our favorites and saw this car outside, which happens to be one of Blake's favorites.

Park

June 5--We went to the Park. It is nice and hot, so we got there at 7:45am. The boys had so much fun. We all just need to get out.

We ran into the same people from the park last week from our ward. 

The day before we had Amy Stott (Aaron's cousin) and her family over to swim because her mom, Becky was in town. We love Becky. She comes into town a lot and we always see her when she comes into town. They had dinner with us and then went home. They left a couple days later to go to Chicago, then we were going to go to Idaho so we won't see them for a little bit.

The boys discovered the smallest grasshopper ever. Those are Dylan's shorts--just to give you some perspective.

We went to the Thrift Store after looking for a new suit jacket for Blake, but found this book. Aaron's brother's name is Adam Johnson so we thought this was interesting. Blake found it,

I have been updating my dining room. I found fabric that I liked, but had the hardest time getting it. But I finally got it. This is what is looks like now.

In the afternoon, Dylan's friend Jake came over and swam and played. Dylan needs his friends. So it was great to have him over.

Doctor Visit

June 2-We went to the doctor for Blake's well check. The doctor told us that the covid virus is in fact weakening. 

Blake is tall (95 percentile) and slender (65 percentile). We also got the orders for Dylan's scans.

Surprises

June 1--On our morning walk we saw this turtle.

Blake got a fun surprise in the mail. My parents sent him a graduation card with $5 for graduating from 5th grade. 

Later that day we had my virtual class and then we went swimming.

Swimming with the Neumann's

We have had some friends over to our house to swim to help him get ready for scout camp since the public pools weren't open yet.

May 30--we went to the Neumann's house to swim. We stayed for 4 hours. This was our first visit with friends and we needed it and they needed it. 

One of the weird things is figuring out where people are on the spectrum of this whole covid thing. We are on the side of we are over this whole thing, let's get back to normal. The Neumann's are on the same boat that we are in.

Dylan and Reading

Dylan loves to read....like a lot. The library has been closed, but he has access to the school library's books online so can read even more. The problem is he stays awake until 9 reading so he is frequently tired in the morning. 

I had to take a picture because this is what Dylan looks like every night.

They had an activity at the church where you drive by the church and the primary presidency will give you a popsicle. We talked to the Bishop for a little bit and he told us  that we would be going back to church soon, but each family would go once a month. I had heard this news earlier that morning in our presidency meeting This is exciting news!

Last Day of School

May 27-The last day of school. We all made it. That morning we finished the school work, then went on our walk.

Then we headed to the park by our house for the drive by parade of the teachers. We waited 2 hours because they took way longer then anticipated and we found out later that they got lost. Anyway, but we played at the park with the neighborhood kids and had some Popsicles. I talked to the neighbors a lot. 

The couple of the table are our next door neighbors. She is a nurse and works with COVID patients. It was great to hear real information from someone who is experiencing Covid and not the media's version of it. We all know the media has totally blown this up and it is super sad because it has put so much fear into people so people don't go to the hospital for other problems because they are afraid that they will get Covid. Hopefully our nation is learning how much inaccurate a lot of our media reports.

We were excited to see them come.

This is the back of Ms. Reasoner's car--her and Ms. Parker were together.

Mrs. Wilson--in the front, is Blake's homeroom teacher.

We like to celebrate the last day of school by going out to eat. This time we got take out from a yummy chinese place and some McDonald's for Dylan.

We got their report card. As long as the students did their school work during the online school semester, then they received the same grades as the 3rd semester. But they had some new comments.

I did question this a little...Blake a risk taker?

We are so glad that this school year is over. Virtual school is not our thing, but we really appreciate the teachers for putting in a lot of work and time into virtual school. We are certainly looking forward to in person school again.

Blake will be heading to middle school next year and Dylan will be in 3rd grade.

Last Virtual School Class Meetings

May 26--The boys had their last virtual class meetings. Blake's teacher had an award for each of the kids. Blake earned the "Straight as an Arrow" award. She said, everyone needs a Blake in their lives. He will always have your back and will be there for you.

He also received an award for reading 40 books during the school year. She had 5 kids between her 2 classes earn the award. She later sent him a free meal for a restaurant, which we actually used last night. June 27.

For Dylan's they did a virtual talent show. A few weeks prior everyone sent her theirs and she complied it. Dylan showed everyone his house  that he designed on Minecraft. We saw his teacher a few weeks later---story about that later--and she said she loved this virtual talent show because people were able to show talents that they wouldn't otherwise get to show in a school setting. Like Dylan's.

Then after lunch we went to the park. We ran into some people from church, but we were meeting Aaron's cousins.

The kids played and had so much fun. It was the perfect day--the weather was great and there were not many people  there.

Amy lives by us, but her sister Aubrey was in town visiting from St. George, Utah. The last time I saw Aubrey was in the hospital after Carter was born. That was in 2004 folks. So I had never met her husband or kids.

Climbing Trees

Here we are at the park again. It is the neighborhood park right down the street from us and it has huge trees that provide shade. For Dylan, they have some great trees to climb (as long as he uses some gloves).
