Like Momma, like son

If you didn't think that they were related before, now you have to believe. You know the old saying, those who sleep alike, smell alike. Hmm, well maybe not but it sounds true.

Momma and son gonna go on a walk

So, we went on a walk today--Blake's first of many. As you can tell from the photo to the left, Michelle was pretty happy to venture outside once again. Blake didn't have any idea what was in store.

He didn't even cry-that means he liked it right? I guess only time will tell.

Blake's First Video

So, while at the hospital I took this short video (or "shorty" if you while--Shorty is also slang for girlfriend but that usage really doesn't work well in this case). This shorty was taken the day after little Blakey was born, we were in the hospital and just waiting between feeds. In the real world you get things done, you make things happen--in the hospital you don't--you wait for the next feed. :)

It doesn't show a lot but for those that care here it is.

Isn't he cute?

So, who was it that said, "Kids are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get".

Blond hair and lots of it. How fun.

Happy Parents

Here are the happy parents. Do we look tired? Nothing like how tired we would be a couple of days later, but Blake is totally worth it!

Blake Austin Johnson

We all survived and are so happy to welcome our little baby boy, Blake Austin Johnson! He was born on 4/14...a couple of days before his 4/20 due date. We were admitted to the hospital at 7:30(ish) pm and he arrived at 11:12pm. He was 7 pounds 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long.
Mommy was having contractions all day at work and finally wised up and went home before contractions were too intense. He was sunny side up, so mommy had to stay on her side and flip to the other side for a little bit before pushing..otherwise it could've been an even quicker delivery.

Believe it or not, he has a full head of blonde hair. My unbiased opinion is that the hair is totally cute. The nurses all comment on it and just love it.

He has only been here a couple of days and is still trying to figure out this whole eating and sleeping thing, but he has sure brought a lot of love and joy to mommy and daddy!

We hope you all enjoy the posts and the pictures.

Michelle

Aaron's version

For those that care, here are a few details (in note form):

We arrived at the hospital at 7:30pm. We were shortly there after
admitted. Michelle got all hooked up to the machines while I texted
the family to inform them where we where at. It became apparent
after they checked Michelle that they thought she wasn't nearly as far
along as she was. "You aren't going anywhere. You're 8cm. "
At 8pm we were then moved to the delivery room where Michelle survived
contraction after contraction. She was now fully dilated and they
sent for the Anastasia for the epidural.
The delivery doctor then arrived and said that there was meconium and
he needed to turn a little more as well (OP). So they injected
Michelle with some saline to dilute the meconium and we waited for two
hours to see if he would turn more. About 10:30pm Michelle was told
to start pushing. About 20 minutes later a whole slew of doctors
showed up to help suction out the meconium before he takes his first
breath. Truth to form (and good parenting) the baby turned (OA) and
charged into the world. He did however decide to take his first
breath early so they had to do a little extra work to get him all
cleaned up.
At 11:12 pm Blake Austin Johnson was born. Weighing in at 7 pounds 12
oz and "standing" 20 and a half inches tall with blond curly hair and
kind of blue eyes. The first thing we noticed was he liked to pooh.
But at least he was cute to help compensate for his over exuberant
bowels.
As you can imagine, very little sleep took place over the night but I am sure we will catch up on sleep tonight and in the coming weeks. (wink, wink).
