Birthday Dinner

We went to Red Robin for Blake's birthday dinner.  He was pretty excited when they sang to him and about the ice cream that he got, but he was even more excited about the smoothie that Aaron and I were sharing.

Dylan was pretty excited about the whole birthday thing too or confused.

Totally unrelated to Blake's birthday, but I want to remember this...the other day I was dealing with Blake so I set Dylan on the ground.  Dylan say a toy across the room that he really wanted.  He can't crawl, but he can roll, so he rolled, back, stomach, back, stomach 4 times across the room until he got his toy.  And then life was good for him.

Dylan sure loves his big brother.

Blake liked his balloon.  It lasted about 15 minutes longer after the picture was taken.

Happy Birthday Blake

For Blake's birthday, we went to SeaWorld.  He was so excited to go.  Dylan was excited to watch all the people.

Can you believe that Blake is 3 years old? Blake has his dad's sense of humor and a little bit of my OCD. Here are some fun things about him:

He will correct us when we are not precise in details.  For example while telling a story and say the cars (generically), he'll stop us and tell us specifically what type of vehicle (cars, trucks, etc..).
He has to have everything in order and in place.  His toys all have a spot so if I put something in a different spot, he will put it in the correct spot.
He needs to know people's names, especially adults.  We had some people come over to help fix the washer and he asked them what their names were.
His favorite thing right now is to water the plants and he has to be wearing his rain boots.
He is a negotiator.   We'll tell him what the schedule is for the day, and he'll repeat the schedule back to us but in his preferred order.  :)   Pretty funny.
He likes to help clean the house and his latest thing is to do the dishes.

We love our Blakey boy.

Annie and the Ladies

For those that have hung out with Blakey for more than 5 minutes know that he loves to play "Get me."  He decided that having someone chase him around the house, park, table, anywhere is extremely entertaining.  So, we frequently play.  The other day I was "getting Blake" running around the house and Michelle inconveniently walked right in the middle of our running area.  As I approached her, I playfully pushed her out of the way so we could continue our fun.  Blake stops and looks at me and says "Daddy, we don't push ladies."   I was taken to task.  How can you argue with that.  Out of the mouths of babes (no, not those babes).

This morning, Blakey came into our room to wake me up and he says "Daddy, the suns up.  Daddy, the sun is up.  Get up." Now as a Johnson, everything we either say or think comes from movie/tv quote or lyrics from a song.  So, I started singing, "The sun'll come out, tomorrow."  Blake joins in for a few words and then says, "Daddy, who sings that?"    I said, "Blakey, Daddy's singing it."  He says, "No Daddy, Annie sings it."  And promptly leaves the room.

I don't think we've commented enough on this blog about exactly how much Blake likes to sing or how much he wants us to sing to him.  We run though song after song with him; church songs, primary songs, pop songs, tv theme cartoon songs, and I recently branched out to old 80's prime-time title sequence songs.  The other day I sang the theme song for the "Greatest American Hero".  I've sang it to him for the last few nights.  Last night, Blakey sang every word of that song with me out loud ---it was awesome.  After a few times hearing it, he's already got it.  So, next time you see him, just start singing "Believe it or not" and he'll steal it right from you and finish it.  I love it.

Cupcakes

We made some cupcakes for Blake's birthday.
Dylan really wanted some. He is now grabbing after things that he wants. The other day Blake and I were eating and I had Dylan in my lap and kept trying to distract him with toys, but he wanted my banana bad so he kept throwing the toys and grabbing the banana. He is no dummy, he knows what he wants.

Happy Easter

We moved the day before Easter, so Easter was a little low key, but we did make it over to my Grandma's house for dinner and a little egg hunt.

Blake loved to look for the eggs. "Eggs, where are you?"

Moving Day

Moving day was a success. We all survived. The best part of the day happened that night when we were getting ready for bed and we were reading a story. Dylan put his arm around Blake. It made me smile.

Egg Hunt

We went to an egg hunt a couple of days before Easter with a bunch of friends. Blake had a blast.
Dylan slept most of the time.

Eating their goodies. Blake is pretty good with sweets. I do not have to monitor how much he eats because he only eats a little bit and then he is done and stops eating.

Who doesn't love to look at themselves?

Lately, Dylan has really taken a liking to watching himself in mirror.  So, not only will he check himself out, but he also loves to jabber to himself as well.  It is pretty funny.  Although, not the best example, I still hope you like the video.

Happy Easter!

Michelle's parents were able to spend the weekend at my folk's house for Easter on their way to Ohio.  While there, we called just to make sure everyone was okay.  Blake wanted to talk to my mom.  So I handed him the phone and he said, "Hi grandma.  Happy Easter."
My mom replied with, "Oh, Happy Easter to you.  How are you doing Blake?"
"Good."
"Did you have a good day?"
"Yes"
"Grandma, love you," he says.
"Well, I love you, Blakey"
"Ok, I have to go play with my trucks now, bye"
Apparently, as important as grandma is, trucks currently top the list.

Funny Kid

Blake can be pretty funny sometimes. Last year, Grandma and Grandpa bought him rain boots. Lately he has LOVED them..even if he puts them on the wrong feet.
Blake wanted to share his hat with Dylan.
I was dealing with Dylan and walked by and saw Blake's dog in Dylan's bouncer...all buckled and everything.
We are moving tomorrow, so Aaron took the day off today to get some stuff packed. Blake was a big help, or at least he wanted to be. If we were taking boxes out, then he had to take something. While frustrating at times because it is a lot faster to do things without help, it is nice that he is willing to help.

5 Months

Our little drooler is 5 months old.

He still LOVES to eat. He likes lots of things, but his favorite are bananas and apples and doesn't like peas...at all. Poor little guy will get surgery in May for his belly. He has to be fasting for 8 hours because they need to knock him out. That is going to be fun. What is fun though, is how much Dylan loves his brother. It is great fun to see them "play" together.

Missionaries

As mentioned before, my parents are going on a mission to Ohio. Here they are on the night they were set apart as missionaries.

Dylan was pretty happy about taking pictures. As a side note, Blake wore the same shirt that Dylan is wearing when my parents got back from their first mission and he was 9 months old...Dylan is 5 months old.

They stopped by to drop off some stuff on their drive to the MTC in Utah. Good luck!

And...happy birthday Grandpa!! Blake sang you "Happy Birthday this morning!"

A few of Blakey's Quotes

Here are a couple of Blake’s funny sayings the last few days.

Michelle is trying to teach Blake a lesson about Jesus and asks him, “Blakey, do you know that Jesus loves you?”  Blake replies, “ Yes. I already knew that. “
Intrigued, Michelle then asks, “Oh well then, what else do you know?”  Immediately Blake responds with “ Nothing.”

Tonight I was telling Blake his traditional bed time story  before he goes to sleep.  “…so Daddy and Blakey are driving down the road when….. cha-blow-pop.  The car breaks and we stop.  We jump out of the car and see that the wheel is broken.”

Blakey says “ Yes, then Mommy is there and she says  ‘What.... is .....the..... deal?’

It was a good 3 minutes before I could start the story back up.

Michelle with all her cunning and stealth comes out of the kitchen with a piece of Easter candy in her mouth, chomping away.  Blake of course is now interested and asks Michelle, “Mommie, what are you eating?  What’s in you mouth?”
Michelle answers, “Love.”

“Oh, “ says Blake, “I want some love.”  Michelle slyly responds with “ oh, okay.  Daddy, can you give Blakey a hug.”  Disappointed and a little mad he answers her with “No, Mommy, I want some love in my mouth.”
It’s hard to pull a fast one on Blakey.
