It has been so hot that we have been doing our outside fun early, which is no different then summer really. Dylan wanted to go to the park yesterday so we went for an hour before we were way too hot. Blake had soccer practice last night and it was hot. I found some shade so I wouldn't totally die, but those poor kids. I took 3 kids home, besides my own...so those parents are welcome..they didn't have to sit out in the heat. (They will do it another night...love carpooling!)

Soccer in 102 Degree Weather, Isn't Life Great?

The boys had their first game of the season on saturday. The nice thing was the games were back to back...the terrible thing...with the heat index it was 102 degrees. After the games we came home and jumped in the pool.

Blake is still on the Dragons, but half of the team left so we acquired half of another team. It is totally different. They played really well and they won. The poor kids were so hot...and so were the adults watching.

Dylan is now on the Ninja Warriors. He knew Luke (coaches' kid) and Truett & Cole (from Fiery Dragons team). We learned that one of the parents on our team is a University of Utah fan. That just made Aaron's day.

The next day we had Stake Conference and got a new Stake Presidency. I don't know any of them, but good luck to them. Since we had a member of the Seventy there, we had it at 9am, which meant we were done at 11am...it was fantastic.

2 Parks in 1 Day

With Blake in school, Dylan is a little bored. He is his school to start. We picked up Beckett the other day and took him with us to the library and to one park and then we went to another park after that park. Beckett's house was being painted inside so it made it hard to be a kid. His mom and little brother came over later that day to hang out before it was time to get Blake from school.

2nd Grade for Blake

Yesterday was Blake's first day of 2nd grade.

His new locker. We dropped him off at his class and then went home. We then had errands to run. Blake wanted to walk off the campus by himself and meet us across the street. It's fine with me because it is less walking. Getting more independent. It was hot so since there was no homework and no practice, we went swimming when we got home from school.

Friday Before School Starts

Not fun. We were supposed to go play at the park with friends, but that didn't happen and neither did swimming. Soccer practice was cancelled. It poured all Friday night. Saturday morning my friend and I were going to go run and check out the trail for the half. Well, a portion of the half is right next to the lake and there was flooding so we didn't do that, instead we ran by our house. Sunday there was no rain and we were all happy.

Meeting Mrs. Brewer

Before we headed to the zoo we found out Blake would be in Mrs. Brewer's class. After the zoo, we stopped by the school to see the listing of the other kids.

Thursday we went to another orthodontist for Blake. We both liked him a lot more than the first guy, but no treatment for another 6 months. That night we went to Blake's school to meet his teacher and get all his supplies in order. He was so happy that his best friend Kenny is in his class. Blake loves his teacher. He was so anxious for school to start the next Monday. After we did his class, we stopped by his old teacher's class, Mrs. Sias. Her son is Kenny and had a lot to do with Blake and Kenny being in the same class this year.

Dallas Zoo

Wednesday we went to the zoo. There was a chance of rain, but it was the last thing on the kids' bucket list for the summer and the last day we could go.

Snakes...they are gross, but totally interesting to look at too.

We went to a show, sat down and then it started to pour...so we went and ate some lunch under the pavilion.

The rain stopped right as we were done eating so we went looking at more animals.

They found these misters...even though it was raining they still thought it was cool.

And then it started to rain...we took off for the elephants and watched them from a near by building. Dylan wasn't very pleasant so we hung out in the building and gave him some food. Interesting fact we learned. The elephants and many of the African animals at the zoo are more active in the summer rain because it cools it down. With the Dallas heat index, we are hotter then it is in Africa. That's depressing. We saw everything and then headed for home. About 20 minutes from home we looked at the roads and they were totally dry....it didn't rain in our city at all.

Beach Club

Last week was the last week before school started and it rained every day. They really wanted to go to the Beach Club. It was cloudy so it wasn't super hot. We saw some friends from church too. Our chorister in primary and a new family in our ward who is now going to run the half marathon with my friend and I.

The cooler weather made soccer practice that night much better.

Swimming and Last Soccer Game

A couple weeks ago we went over to our friend's house..Brexton and Maci. They moved in June (shortly  before our last playdate) so we wanted to go check out their house. We went swimming at their community pool. This is the famous pool for a group of kids who were a little too loud and so the police came and some say the police were to rough on the kids. Now there is security at this pool.

We had fun with our friends. After we swam we went back to their house and the kids played together while Megan and I chatted.

That night Blake had his last indoor soccer game. It was a little sad because a lot of the team won't be playing outdoor with us.

Coach Scott is such a good guy. He wanted Blake so badly to score this season.

The next day, Aaron took Dylan rock climbing and I took Blake to his end of the season swim party at Dante's house. Their house is amazing and a huge backyard. That Sunday I taught Dylan's primary class and after church and then I was asked to teach Blake's class the following week.

Heard Museum

Even though it was hot, we went to the Heard Museum. We got there right at 9 when it opened and went on a hike. Aaron let Blake bring the binoculars and Blake loved looking at things through them.

An oak tree that is over 200 years old.

We heard woodpeckers.

We saw an insanely large spider. It was so gross.

Then the played.

Poor Dylan sweats so much.

These butterflies are so pretty.

They always like to put on a show.

Snapping turtle.

They had a new exhibit up about hailstorms and a little part on the recent hailstorm in April that hit us. It really hit Wylie, which is close to us. Hail can be crazy around here.

We went home and went swimming. The pool water was in the mid-90s. Felt more like bath water.
