Dylan's School Picture

Dylan got his school pictures. We didn't buy them, but they send them home in hopes that you change your mind.

Heard Museum

Yesterday we had a day off of school. In the morning we worked on Blake's Nova award, did some reading, made bread and played. After lunch we went to the Heard since it wasn't raining and it was in the low 70s. It rained the night before so a couple trails were closed, but we still did plenty of hikes.

It was the last day for the dinos for the season. We played at the treehouses where the boys made some friends and then it started to rain, so we went inside. We had planned on going from the museum to the Treehouse park and play there for a little bit until soccer practice, but then coach texted me and said practice was canceled. So, we went home instead.

Blue & Gold

Thursday we had our Blue & Gold Banquet. I didn't take any pictures, but we had an Olympic theme and it was really cute. We ate tacos. Blake earned the last 2 awards that he can as a wolf.

Saturday was our one week off of sports..in between basketball and soccer, so we did haircuts, cleaned the church and I got my lesson ready for Sunday.

Sunday--my lesson went fine. I wasn't nervous for it and I had a couple good discussions going, but I'm sure I will get better with time. After church we had some friends over--the Richard and Campbell families for dessert. It was fun--the kids played and the adults talked.

Valentine's Day

The boys had their class parties and  they got some goodies. Aaron landed at about 5:15 and then got home at about 6:20, then we drove over to the church because the YW babysat while parents went out to dinner. Aaron and I went to one of our favorite Italian places...the kids love it too so they were sad they couldn't go, but they had fun playing at the church.

Day Before Love Day

Monday Aaron left for Florida. I got in my car to come home from work and my car wouldn't start. I had 15 minutes to get home before I needed to get the boys. I went back in and found someone to help me jump my car, then I drove to school (didn't turn off the engine) and got the boys--while I was waiting I called AAA and told them to meet us at the orthodontist because we had an appointment there. They did meet us there and put in a new battery while Blake was getting his braces worked on. It was stressful, but it all worked out. We came home, then got ready for Dylan's soccer practice. It was freezing. Why do I let them do outdoor soccer???

The next day at school we had our valentine's day party at school for our tuesday/thursday class. I got all these goodies.

The boys got a card from my parents and from my Grandma. They felt loved.

This is from one of the little girls. Do you know that tulips are my favorite?

Last Basketball Games

February 10--Let me first tell you how cruel our weather can be sometimes. I woke up and saw that it was 58 degrees. I was pumped because it has been freezing. So I dressed accordingly. Well, it was my long run. About half way through it started to rain and then the wind happened and it was freezing...it dropped 20 degrees by the time I got back. At Blake's game one of the other parents who runs I found out was out there with me and the same thing happened to him and I am pretty sure I saw him. Anyway, I am so ready for Spring.

The troop and pack met over at our house at 9am to do Scouting for Food. We did it for a little bit (in the freezing weather) and then went to Dylan's game.

Dylan's game was so much fun to watch. He took a lot of shots, rebounded, got open, played really good defense....it was fun.

After his game they had a magic show and a little party for the team.

Then we went home to have lunch, then  came back for Blake's game. Blake had a great game too. There is another player on the team that kept passing Blake the play..it forced Blake to get more comfortable with the ball.

I'm so proud of the boys for their season.

Then we went to the magic show for Blake..it was the same thing, but still fun. Chandler (one boy that Blake played soccer with who goes to the same school) was selected to come help on stage. It was a fun show.

On our drive home Aaron got a call from our bishopric that I was getting a new calling..he told Aaron what it was. The primary president and I were talking  the night before about something else and she told me that I was going to get a new calling but she didn't know what just that I wasn't going to be in cubs anymore.

Sunday I had our committee meeting, then we went to church and officially got my new calling...Gospel Doctrine teacher. That's right. Never done it before. But the kicker--they didn't release me yet from cubs because they can't find anyone....grrrr.

100th Day of School

Friday, February 9 was the 100th day of school. The kindergarten classes at our school always celebrate this day. They do a lot of counting activities that day that are a lot of fun. They also bring in 100 items. This year they added dressing up like a 100 year old person.

Here is 100 year old Dylan.

I went to school and took pictures. They were so cute. I was able to talk to Mrs. Robinson. The kid who was having a hard time in class was transferred into one of the other classrooms and a new kid from Denver moved into the class. Mrs. Robinson (bless her heart for putting up with kid for most of the year because he was a challenge) is soooo happy now and the kids are having so much fun now. They had fun before, but they are having a lot of fun. Mrs. Robinson is really fun at teaching and she couldn't do what she normally does because of this kid--isn't that sad? Anyway, Dylan was also tasked to sit with the new kid to show him the ways.

Art Show

The day before  the school district had their art show (which I had no clue was going on) Dylan brought home a paper and said, "Mom, I am famous". So I look at the paper and see that his art will be on displayed at this art show. Blake had the same thing happen in Kinder, but I thought everyone's art was on display so we didn't go. Well, they only pick a few from each school so we knew that we should go to Dylan's.

We got there so we could see this famous kid's art work. This is his art. His art teacher was there and came and talked with us for awhile. She told me that she just loved both Blake and Dylan and how good they both are at art. (Really? Um, okay...I'm no art expert) She also said that she never has any problems with either kid.

Here is kindergarten art. I think it is cute.

This was the art from our school. Good job Dylan!

This week was crazy because my co-teacher was on jury duty so I was the lead teacher. It went just fine, but I was happy when she came back the following week. She is so great.

Basketball Games

February 3--In the morning we went to Home Depot for a project. Then we went to Dylan's basketball game.

We went home, had lunch, etc  then came back for Blake's game. They both did great.

Interesting

A couple Friday's ago I went to the store and saw mini bananas. I  have never seen them before and I go grocery shopping a lot.

Then I went to pick up the boys from school. I walk to get them and meet them at the corner across the street so we can avoid the crazy carpool line. I saw this car. Who wouldn't want to be picked up in that car?

School Pictures

The kids had their Spring school pictures so I told them to wear something nice....Dylan picked his Hawaiian shirt. His grandpa and uncle James would be so happy with the choice.

Basketball Games

January 27--More games. The kids did great.

In between games we went over to cousin Amy's house because Aaron's Aunt Verena was in town. They came up to go to the Dallas Temple since the Houston Temple is still closed. They stayed with Amy this time. We had lunch with them before going to Blake's game. It was fun to see them.

I have been teaching at school Monday-Thursday now. I am a permanent sub for one class since one of the teachers will be out for awhile. I really like the other teacher that I teach with and the kids are really cute. It certainly keeps me busy, but I get Fridays off to get everything done. Friday is a very busy day!

Basketball Games

January 20--Dylan had a game in the morning and Blake had his in the afternoon...like every Saturday.

Dylan scored 4 points.

We played outside in between games because it was really nice outside.

By the way, we have got our kids hooked on "Amazing Race". It is one of my favorite shows...and now we all watch it together.
