Blake's Scripture Case Returned

Do you remember the story of how Blake lost his scriptures and case about a month after he lost them and then about a year after, Aaron's cousin, Amy (who went to church at the same building as we do, but at a different time) found them in a trash bag? She found  the scriptures, but there was no case, so Blake had to earn a new case, which he did. Well, Monday night I got a text from someone in our ward who happens to teach seminary and is also one of his webelos leaders saying that she found his scripture case and asked if he wanted them. She said she would bring it by our house the next day after seminary. It ended up being during the day while I was at work, but when I got home there they were on our porch. I wondered how in the world she knew they were Blake's. This is how...this sheet of paper.

I then saw her that night at an activity so asked for the whole story. She and one other seminary teacher decided to clean up the lost and found cupboard for seminary. She was sifting through the stuff and saw Blake's and wondered if there was another Blake in the stake and well, Blake isn't in seminary so why are these in with the seminary items. Let it be known that we checked that cupboard so many times, but once we got the scriptures back without a case, we gave up on the case.

Blake's own little scripture and scripture case miracle. Pretty cool huh?

Home Depot and Soccer

Last Saturday we went to Home Depot for a project and then we had to go inside. Blake found a Parana. My parents just got back from a trip to Peru where they fished for Parana and then ate the Paranas, so Blake thought it was super cool that this was there at Home Depot.

Dylan thought it was super cool that we ran into Caleb at Home Depot!

After lunch we went to Dylan's game. The boys were all very sluggish...I guess 101 degree weather will do it to you. My car said it was 115 degrees. Gross!

We came home and swam and then Dylan pretended he was a Ghostbuster.

Labor Day

For Labor Day we swam at our pool, then we went over to our friend's house, the Pettit's. They moved into our ward in May. They have boy triplets and twin girls. He works at PwC and she is a runner, so we get along great. There were several other families there. We had a great night.

Last week was our first week of preschool. We had spent 2 weeks in training, so it was nice to finally have the kids come. We have a great class this year with lots of girls.

The last couple of Fridays I have been going to lunch with different friends, which has been fun! Summers are busy and we get together a lot with friends, but sometimes it is nice to do lunch without kiddos!

Bass Pro Shop, Baptism and FC Dallas

Saturday, August 31 we had a busy day. We did our "Island Adventures" with the kids. Blake wanted me to take him to Bass Pro Shop and Dylan and Aaron went and got donuts and watched a movie. This was our first time in this store. We have a Cabella's close to us...Bass Pro is about 40 minutes away. It is HUGE.

They had this cool bridge and pond in the store. There was also a little shop to get some food--like pretzels, funnel cakes, etc.

Blake loves to look at the boats. We looked at everything in the store.

Then we came home, ate some lunch, then went to Matthew's baptism.

We came home, swam and then went to dinner at Hutchins.

Blake had their peach cobbler for the first time and loved it.

Then we went to the FC Dallas game because we got free tickets. The seats were great and we won.

At halftime they watered the field. Never seen that before, but I guess that is what happens when it is really hot.

Dog Man

Dylan's best friend, Caleb, bought a copy of the new Dog Man book for Dylan and gave it to him on our meet the teacher night. Super nice right? Well, Caleb's mom is a graphics designer and made some bookmarks for the boys. Dylan and Caleb are both huge fans of Dav Pilkey books. They have read them all--several times.

Dylan's Soccer Game

August 24--In case you don't know, it gets really hot in July and August and September. The boys haven't had many days for outdoor recess because it has been over 100 degrees.

So, given the heat, people like to do things early. The boys helped with an Eagle Project and  left the house at 7am, then they came home, we ate and headed to Dylan's first soccer game for the season. We are on bigger fields, with a goalie...and they call offsides now. We are getting serious. Our roster got bigger, so another part of a team was combined with our team. The boys played well and they won (because now the officials actually do keep track of this).

We came home and swam!!

Joys of Homeownership

August 18--we were finishing up getting ready for church when I walked by our front door and saw that our sprinklers in our front yard were still on. I went to our control panel for our sprinklers and turned it to off, but nothing....long story short, we turned off the water to our house and headed to church. When we got home we manually turned off 2 of  the zones. Man, they were running all night. A sprinkler guy came and replaced the valve later on in the week, but that's an expensive water bill. Gulp!

Richard Pool Party

The Saturday after school started we had a pool party at our friends house, the Richard family, along with the Campbell family. This is our little ministering group.

We had a fun time playing in their new pool.
