Playing

He can be pretty serious when he is reading.

But then he will get distracted and try to eat the book.

I guess boxes are still fun toys.

Really?

You remember these big fans from June 2009 at our house? Well, this year our disaster wasn't nearly what it was like last year. We were hit hard with some serious rain. We got 10 inches in 7 days, which is a lot for us. Anyway, our roof couldn't handle it. Thankfully we didn't have a big leak, it was just completely warped and water damaged. We didn't think breathing in mold would be a good idea, so out come the big fans.

It would've been too good of an idea to get a picture of the actual damage before they tore it up. The good news is this is covered by our HOA, but that means that we once again have to fight with our HOA to get things done.

Christmas 2010

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Blake loved everything about Christmas and it was fun to have him like his toys more than the boxes/wrapping paper that he liked last year.

Blake had a motorcycle and an apple in his stocking...what was more exciting? Nothing beats food.

Blake loves his scooter. When Blake got on his scooter, he said "hat" (aka helmet). Bummer that Santa forgot to get a helmet, so a couple days later, we went and got a helmet.

What can we say other than Blake's aunts, uncles, and grandparents sure love him and got him some really fun toys.

Candy Cane Lane

One of the local streets goes all out for Christmas, so we went to check it out. Every house is decorated and I don't mean with a couple of strands of lights...

Pooh's man cave even had a working TV playing a Christmas movie.

Blake loved the reindeer who was fishing.

At first Blake was kind of freaked out with the dancing Santa, but then he thought it was pretty fun!

After looking at all the lights, Blake had to say night-night to Santa and look at the Christmas tree.

BYU vs. UCLA

Here is some of the gang that went to the game on Saturday.

It started out promising...sigh. Oh well, at least we were there supporting the team.

Santa

So we knew the Blake loved Santa, but apparently, his love for Santa is just like his love for dogs...he loves them from a distance and not up close.

He was still freaked out for the family picture.
Life is good again...

...but only for a moment. Maybe Blake knew what the outcome was going to be of the BYU vs. UCLA basketball game later that day and it made him really sad.

Christmas Fun

My mom let us borrow her Little People Nativity Set for a lesson that I am teaching on Sunday, so Blake was playing with them. He loves baby Jesus and always says "shhh" because he is sleeping.
Before the Little People Nativity set, we had the one in the background that Aaron's mom made for us that is made out of wood (so, still kid friendly thankfully). Every night before Blake went upstairs to bed, he would lay down all the pieces and say "night night". I caught a picture of him laying down one of the wise men.

Movies

Blake normally won't last more than 2 minutes watching TV, which I must admit, is a good thing. However, he loves watching the music video for "Cars" and the other day, he sat for 10 minutes to watch some of "Toy Story".

10 minutes was long for him, so he needed to drink some water, but he thinks he needs to drink like mom and dad do...without a lid on the cup.

Or maybe using the straw as a spoon is a good idea...he gave that up really quick.

20 Months

Our little independent (although still needy at times) little guy is now 20 months old. We tried to keep him in a high chair as long as he could to make cleaning up easier, but he is done with that and is now at the table with the rest of us. It is fun to hear how many new words he is learning daily. We have been working on his colors, but the kid thinks everything is blue. This actually pleases Aaron because could you imagine if Blake thought everything was red. We are raising a Cougars fan NOT a Utes fan.

Blakes is so excited about the Christmas Tree. He loves when we turn on the lights. Of course this year we have all of 6 ornaments on the tree because that is how many non-breakable ornaments we own. He now says "Cheese" for the camera..can you tell?

Let's go to the park

We were going to go to the park, so I asked Blake to go get my shoes. Naturally he picks the most comfortable shoes to wear.

And to prove to me how comfortable they are, he put them on and walked around in one. I wasn't convinced.

Claudia and Sasha were at the park.

Sasha drew a picture for Blake.

And someone had a remote control car.

Hide 'N Seek

Blake loves to hide and he loves to find people who are hiding. He is better at being the seeker than he is the hider, but at least he has the "boo" down when he does find someone.

I think one of the reasons why he is better at finding someone is because he is always on the go...he can't sit in one spot and when he is on the go, he is running...why walk when you can run?

Happy Birthday

We celebrated Robert's birthday and my birthday the day of he BYU vs Utah game. Speaking of football, Blake's new word is "touchdown". It makes Aaron pretty happy.
Blake was fascinated with Sarah's sunglasses.

He thought he was pretty special with the sunglasses on.

James brought his roommate, Hector, home for Thanksgiving. Blake loves Hector...or at least he loves to say Hector's name.

Sasha

Blake loves the park!

Especially when Claudia and Sasha are there.

Park buddies

19 Months Old

Another month older. Blake really likes to color and draw.

He likes to give kisses..even to the pumpkin.

He also likes to eat while I am making dinner. He will not play on his own while I am in the kitchen because he doesn't want to miss anything going on. So, he sits on the counter and watches me cook. He is talking a lot and his words are getting more clear. His latest phrase is thank you.

Fun Times

Blake has decided that toys are a little more fun lately, which makes me happy.

Our little poser.

My co-worker gave Blake their old train table. Apparently this kid likes trains, or choo-choos.
Blake has a new friend, Sasha. She is another one of those loyal park goers and Blake sure has a fun time with her. She is 3 years old, so I guess he likes the older ladies. We are usually at the park before she gets there with her friend (who is 6), so Sasha will run over to us..."Blake, I'm so glad you are here!" The other day Blake took a tumble and his forehead landed right on the concrete. (Both Blake and I are alright...yes, I don't do well with blood.) Sasha came over to him and said, "Blake, I'm sorry you got hurt. Maybe you will feel better tomorrow." The other fun thing is that Blake can say Sasha, so when I ask Blake if he wants to go to the park, he will say yes and then say Sasha.

Pumpkins

Friday night we carved a pumpkin. Blake is really into Halloween decorations and really loves jack-o-lanterns.

We all had fun!
