First Day of School

Today was the first day of school! Weird to start on a Thursday. Blake is in 5th grade, which is the last year of elementary school for us. Dylan is in 2nd grade.

Dylan has Ms. Reasoner. She seems fantastic. Dylan was really just excited that Caleb and Jake are in his class.

Blake has Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Loya. They have very different personalities, but he likes them both. We  rode our bikes today because we didn't want to walk home in 100 degree weather. Gross.

Getting Ready for School

Tuesday we went grocery shopping to get food for school. This is how much gas was at Costco. Slightly less then in CA.

That night we went to school for our meet the teacher night. Dylan's best friend, Caleb is in his class. (They are both soooo excited!!) Caleb and Dylan really like the books Dog Man, well, the new one just came out and Caleb got 2 of them--one for him and one to give to Dylan, which he gave him at the meet the teacher. He came home and read while we ate our dessert. He finished it that night.

Trip to CA Day 6

Monday morning Seth came over and we went over to the park so they could get energy out because we left to go home that day. Aaron picked us up from the airport and we stopped for dinner on the way home.

We had such a fun trip. Thanks  to my parents for letting us come out!!

Trip to CA Day 5

After church on Sunday we had some steaks and then went over to David and Kristi's house. The boys played with legos and had some competitions as to who could create the coolest cars, etc.

Seth is 5'8". So tall. Kid wears a size 14 shoe too. My nephews are growing up.

James came over to hang out  too. We said our goodbyes, then went home.

Trip to CA Day 4

Saturday morning, we went to the South OC cars and coffee. It is a free event with over 500 cars. The boys rode down there with my brother David, in his all electric car, which made Blake's day. All the boys loved this car show, but Blake was in heaven...like he loves this stuff. And luckily he had 2 uncles there to tell them all about the cars.

Question..why would you wrap a McClaren? It made me kind of sad...such a nice car.

Blake loves golden things so when he saw this gold car, he got really excited...so much so that the owner let him sit in the car and he didn't let anyone else.

My favorite car--a viper.

Happens to be Dylan's favorite as well.

A new and and old stingray.

There was a Tesla super charging station. Note: there are so many EVs in CA. The gas is $3.75 per gallon, so it makes sense that more people want EVs.

A model A--this is pretty old.

We came home, played and then got ready for the birthday party. The big  reason we went out to CA is because my mom is turning 65, but she turns 65 on a day that the kids have school, so they moved up the party so we could come. My brother Robert came over early because he had a project to work on, but before we started that, the boys and I went in a ride in his hybrid, which was fun.

The project was to install an expansion kit to my parent's tankless water system. Blake helped as one of his requirements for his arrow of light.

This kid is dedicated--problems came up, but he stuck with it even though his cousins were all out back swimming.

This was his first time soldering. Grandpa showed him some You Tube videos the day before. Robert was a great teacher and explained everything to him....he is an engineer and loves this stuff.

Dylan helped for a couple of minutes.

But went back to swimming.

My Uncle Richard brought his dog Riley, who is a very good dog. Dylan loved playing with him.

They finished.

Blake was able to jump in before we ate.

Then we sang. We celebrated all the summer birthdays. All my brothers and their families were there, my Grandma, my Uncle Richard, and my Sister-in-law's parents.

Seth is really into baseball. He is going to be a freshman this year and is hoping to make the school's team. So, Dylan threw him some balls to hit...a few went over the fence.

My uncle gave all the boys and safe with some money inside. The fun thing is that he set the code and gave him something to solve in order to open the safe--it was kind of like an escape room game. It was very cool and super nice. It wasn't their birthdays, but he said that he never gets to see them on their birthdays. He is such a nice and generous person.

This is what my sister-in-law Sarah rides. Dylan thinks she is super cool because of it.
