Taste of Europe

Monday night we went over to our friends house..the Kenney's. Whittney actually was on the same mission as my brother at the same time...they know each other. Small world huh?

Well, the family (4 young boys) are driving through europe for 6 weeks so to get their kids excited, she bought lots of food from the countries that they will be going to. She realized that she went a little extreme and invited us to come help them out. We had dinner first. I am super proud of Blake. He tried an anchovy and sardines. I ate them too and they really weren't bad. Blake thought the sardines were better, but I thought they tasted very similar. Then we had desserts from the countries. I believe this was from France. We ate so much food.It was definitely something new for us.

Tuesday night I had preschool graduation and then Thursday was our last day of preschool. Crazy! I am working summer camps for the next 2 weeks because the boys have school still for those 2 weeks so I might as well work. I also signed my contract for next year and I will be doing the same thing with my same co-teacher. I am really excited. I love Ms. Lya. We have a lot of fun together!  Summer time is here! We also had pack meeting last night and it looks like I will be a chaperone for their camp this year, so that means that Dylan comes too. The good thing is that it is 1 day. It actually sounds kind of fun....well, for the boys.

Mother's Day

The boys made omelettes for breakfast on Mother's Day. I opened my presents, then we went to church. After church, we went to the park with the Neumann's. We stayed for awhile because we had beautiful weather that day. We went home and then Aaron and the boys made some hamburgers.

I hope all the moms had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Avir's Birthday Party

Last Friday Aaron left for a YM overnight activity---they went to our friends' lake house 2 hours south of us. They went out on the lake, used their paddleboards, and played lots of ping pong, fooseball, air hockey and pool. There were 21 boys who went. Saturday morning after I went running, I went to go get Blake so we could run and it started to rain. It pretty much rained the whole day. We had breakfast, then went to church to help clean it. Then we drove home and it wasn't raining, so Dylan, Blake and I ran. About 1 mile into our run it started to rain pretty hard, but the boys loved it.

We came home, then got ready for Avir's party. Dylan was invited too. They love the place that Avir picked for his party, so they were super excited  to go.

Rhett was there and so was his mom, which was fun because I haven't talked to her in awhile.

After the party, we had some errands to run, then we came home. Aaron got home at dinner time, then right after dinner, the Neumann's came over for movie night. They brought chocolate fondue before the movie.

Since it rained so much, they canceled Dylan's last soccer game and  they decided to not make up the game.

Soccer Game

Saturday we had another soccer game. We are getting close to the end of the season. The team is having a great season.

Lunch with Chelsea

Monday, April 29 we went to lunch with Aaron's sister, Chelsea who texted us the day before to let us know that she was in town. She was there for a quick trip because her friend lives here who has brain cancer and wanted some support. It was great to see Chelsea..it had been like 5 years. I'm glad it worked out because it was the only day that week that either Aaron or I could've gone.

Sunday Talk

We had a linger longer at church one day and I turned around and saw these 2 plotting....or just chatting.

Fun Saturday

We went to another soccer game.

Then we changed and went over to ther Neumann's house for a pool party with 2 other families. We had so much fun.

Soccer Game

April 23--we had a makeup game the day after Grandma and Grandpa left. Of course. The team played great.

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny always makes Blake and Dylan work for their goodies....they went on a scavenger hunt and loved it.

Then we ate breakfast, then went to church.

Then took some pictures, which the boys were super excited about.

It was a beautiful day and we had such a fun time having Grandma and Grandpa spend the week with us. We all really enjoyed their visit. I love that Grandma and Grandpa make a big effort to visit us! We created some great memories. Thanks for your visit. We will see them soon for our cruise!

Texas Bluebonnet Half Marathon and 5k

Several months ago Blake called up Gramps and challenged him to a 5k race. It was the first 5k for both of them. They both trained hard. Blake and I would run before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then on Saturday.

The day was beautiful. We had so much ran during the week that had to alter the course a little. The morning started off cool, but it was in the 70s by the end of the race, which is a little warm when you are running a decent distance.

Here are the 5k runners before the race.

Before the race.

I started my half marathon at 8, then the 5k started at 8:15....so I didn't get to see them start or finish because I was out running...for soooo long.

But we all finished. Grandpa got 1st in his age group. Blake got 5th in his age group. He was kind of bummed because he had just turned 10, putting him in a harder age group. If they ran the race the weekend before, he wouldn't got 2nd. Super proud of him. It was his first on his own because he didn't really stay with Grandpa for very long.

Funny story. Apparently when Blake crossed the finished line he still had his water cup in his hand...this is the water cup that they give you at the water stops, then you toss on the ground. He thought it was littering so he wouldn't toss it, so he just held on to it, then threw it away in the trash can after the finish line. I discussed a lot of strategy with this kid while we were training and we talked about him getting water and how he shouldn't stop just to drink it, but I totally forgot to talk to him about tossing the cup. For some reason it didn't even cross my mind.

I got 1st in my age group and 24nd overall, 4th female. I did a 7:53 minute mile pace. So I know I am never going to be those rock star runners with sub 5 minute miles, but I was happy with my time.

I got my medal. He said that since I won then I deserved a mani/pedi...and also I could eat 1 taco for each mile I ran, so 13 tacos.

I am really proud of Grandpa and Blake!!

Blake and I are still running before school. Blake really enjoys it and really likes running in the morning before school rather then at night. Aaron says I have created a monster.

We came home, ate lunch, dyed Easter Eggs., went in the spa and then they took the kids out to dinner while Aaron and I went to dinner.

Day Off of School

The boys had Good Friday off of school, so we went bowling and played lots of laser tag games.

Considering we go bowling once a year, we all did pretty good. Each of us got at least one strike.

Our very last game of laser tag it was just the 5 of us--boys versus girls.

Then we came home and played badminton in the crazy, crazy wind.
