Did you know?

We keep this blog a family and friends focus.  So, in keeping with that theme, here's a video clip of my former roommate and great friend Chris Walker, throwing down some knowledge on the good people of the nation re:the supreme court and what's next with the obamacare law.

Nice job Chris.  Very articulate and poised   Glad I can say we're friends.  :)

Some fun at the park

We took the boys to the park yesterday and had a little fun.  Dylan is liking our walks more and more (as long as it isn't windy, he hates the wind).  We usually take a walk to the park, then play around on the slides, on the jungle gym or on the swings.  Then we take a loop around the park on our way back home.  Michelle will frequent say as we exit the house and watch Blake tear off down the sidewalk, looking and exploring, yelling and laughing, "We're taking our little doggie (Blake) on a much needed walk outside."  The kid has energy that's for sure.

Hope you enjoy the video.  Two boys and their mother at the park.

Yesterday Blake was asking about shots (last time we went to the doctor Dylan had to get a bunch of them).  He asked "Mommy, Dylan needs shots?"

"Yes Blake.  Sometimes when we go to the doctor Dylan has to get shots huh?

"Umm, yeah.  I got shots before.  They hurt me."

"Yeah, they aren't fun huh?"

"Mommy, why does Dylan needs shots?  What are shots?"

Michelle then proceeds to explain to Blake about shots, why we need them, etc... She is in mid sentence with more of her explanation and Blake asks, "Mommy, are you still talking about shots?"

He either lost interest in the conversation or lost what the explanation was about.  Hard to tell, but pretty funny.

Oh. I'll have to remember that!

We are in the process (early stages still) of getting Blake potty trained.  I know, I know, just the topic you wanted to read about.  So, Michelle was instructing Blake on the finer points of the process, for the hundred time mind you and well.......let's go down to action.

"So, Blake when you need to go potty, you just need to tell Mommy or Daddy and we can help you go to the bathroom.  So, what are you going to do when you have to go potty?"

"Tell Mommy and Daddy."

"That's right, and then we can take you to the potty so you can go bathroom."

"Ohhhhh.  Okay.  I'll have to remember that!"

What almost 3 year old says, "I'll have to remember that."   Where does he get this stuff?

Until next time.

Salt and Ice Cream Sandwiches

We were over at Michelle's parent's house a few days ago for dinner.  Blake was his customary talkative self while we ate.  We chatted and laughed.  Michelle's Dad was sitting right across from Blake and was mindlessly playing with the salt and pepper shakers.  Michelle was in the middle of telling a story and Blake randomly (and I mean completely out of the blue) interrupts Michelle while looking at Michelle's Dad and says, "Grandpa we have salt too."  Apparently, salt shakers are a rare and valuable commodity in Blake's world.

We then finished up eating dinner, Michelle's mom brought out some ice cream sandwiches for a little dessert.  Blake was the last one to finish his (of course) as he had been observing everyone eat their own sandwiches.  And like a normal almost 3 year old, he's got ice cream all over his face and covering his fingers.  So, I grab a napkin to clean off him off but he stops me and as he begins to lick his fingers says, "No Daddy, I want to taste my fingers.  Just like Grandpa do."

He got a number of laughs from that.  And Grandpa was the loudest of them.

What a Cute Laugh

So, we wanted to make sure we captured Dylan's cute laugh.  Take a look (and listen)!

4 Months

Dylan is 4 months old. He is still tall, but I knew that already because he is wearing 9 month tops already. Everything is fine, but the pediatrician was concerned about his belly not healing yet, so we are meeting with the surgeon in a couple weeks to see what he thinks. I hope it will heal on its own so that we don't have another surgery.

He still HATES his car seat. Those who have been in the car with us know what I am talking about. We are trying out some different car seats to see if that helps. Other than that, he is a pretty happy kid. His laugh totally makes me happy and I love that Dylan and Blake love each other because you know that won't last forever. Dylan loves to watch Blake play and smiles lots for him. I guess we will keep both of them.

Insanity

Aaron has been in Florida for work this week. In anticipation of his absence, my friend gave me her double jogger. Of course this week has been raining and cold--cold for here and cold for Dylan, so no running for us. I was going insane so I did an Insanity workout and Blake joined in.

After the workout, we ran a couple laps in our complex. While running Blake says, "This is the best day ever." Maybe he does have a little of me in him. Hehe another runner in the family.

Mover

Would you believe me if I told you that I put Dylan down for a nap wrapped in his blanket (now under his head) facing the other direction? Our little mover escaped his blanket and did a 180. This is very normal for this rugrat and his brother. I still hear Blake kicking the wall in his sleep in his bed. Right now I don't see any bunk beds in these kids' future because either one of them would probably fall off the top bunk.
