Fun Saturday

Saturday morning while Aaron and I were doing yard work, the boys made a fort.

After lunch we went to the library. We go at least once a week, but it was the first time Aaron has seen the remodel. He has been missing out.

The boys completed the summer reading program, but they didn't get a prize like they typically hand out because businesses are just trying to stay afloat. One of the prizes they usually get is a snow cone, so I told them that when we finished a particular book then we could go get a snow cone. We finished on Friday, so Saturday we went. It was a hot day so it was perfect.

Then we had the Neumann's over to swim and eat. Aaron smoked some brisket and it was tasty. This time he made some burnt ends. Um,  they were really good. Rowan is 9 months, almost 10 months old and  that kid loved the brisket and the baked potatoes (he ate 2) and the fruit and  the.....you get the idea. We always have fun with them!

What a Day

August 21--This was my mom's birthday. After the kids were logged in and good to go, I went to do some grocery shopping. Then I came back and was trying to work on some church stuff and Dylan found me and was not happy with his assignment, so this is what he did--try to hide under the table. I feel his pain.

Another Park Day

August 20--I had to go into the preschool in the morning. And of course about 40 minutes before I was going to leave the program that the kids use for school wasn't working. We got calls and emails from their campuses and the school district. It affected most of DFW's school districts. Luckily, we had just one hiccup on Dylan's assignment, but then they were back in business. I was home to eat lunch with Dylan and then go to the park.

Then we got a package from Grandma and Grandpa. They got them a few shirts--including a Hawaiian shirt, some crafts, and some more masks.

This is Dylan watching TV. Makes me giggle.

Park for Recess

Dylan isn't enjoying virtual school at all. On Mondays he has his Alpha class, which he loves, but otherwise, it is a little bit of a struggle every day. So, we have been riding our bikes during his recess. Then we decided to ride our bikes to the park and have him play. It is nice and shaded. This helps a lot! He sure wishes his buddies were with him playing, but happy to get out.

Nerf Gun Battle Royale

The kids had this great idea to play Battle Royale with nerf guns. We do not own this game, but they saw this done on Dude Perfect. So, I hid all the nerf guns and the ammo and then let the game begin. They were all over the house. We played 2 times and both times Aaron won.

This is Dylan being "dead".

Island Adventure

Saturday, August 15. This was the sunrise after my run. Isn't it pretty?

After some yard work and our walk, we went on our Island Adventure. Dylan wanted to go to the library because he reads soooo much. They have expanded our library. We love it.

Then he wanted to go to Braum's. Oh, was he excited. He had no problem eating everything. He loved his milkshake too. We did buy some ice cream and it brought it home for Aaron and Blake who were watching a movie at our house for their Island Adventure.

First Day of (Virtual) School

August 13--They started school. I hope this is the only time we are able to take a 1st day of school picture with no backpack and no shoes on. No one likes virtual school--got that superintendents and governors???

Dylan's school starts at 8am. I take one kid running with me, then we eat breakfast, then go on a short walk with Dylan, then get Dylan started, then Blake and I go on a longer walk because he doesn't start until 8:45 and they need to get out and move before they sit and stare all day.

Dylan's teacher is Mrs. Brownrigg. On our meet the teacher zoom meeting she was dropping off her youngest daughter at University of Arkansas. How funny...we told her that we were just out there a month ago. Anyway, she is a great teacher. Blake didn't have her, but you kind hear things from other parents.

Blake has 7 periods. He has Pre AP Math, then Creed (this is a short class everyone has for 2nd period, which is kind of like a study hall), PE (and they actually do workouts virtually), science, history, Math Lab, ELAR and choir. He isn't done until 3:52 and Dylan is out at 3:07. They extended the day by 7 minutes so that we can end the school year earlier. They had that planned before COVID.

Dylan also had to do an actual workout for PE. Oh, and Dylan's other best friend, Jake, is in his class, so that is really all the Dylan cares about.

Last Day of Summer

The day before school started, we had a virtual tour from the missionaries of the Sacred Grove. It was so cool. They walked us through the farmhouse and all the other structures on the property and then we went through the Sacred Grove. They turned off the audio at that point and moved their camera all around so we could see the sun coming through the trees, the bark on some of the trees, etc. i love that they are still able to do this. What a great opportunity for us too.

We got the desks ready for virtual school the next morning.

Friends

August 10-Monday we picked up Dylan's laptop and found out school schedules. Then that night Blake had a mock virtual school day where he went through his whole schedule and logged on to every class, stayed on for 5 minutes, then logged on to his next class. This was to help see what kinks they needed to work on.

August 11--That morning I had some training at the preschool, then came home and the de la Houssaye's came over to swim. The traveled most of the summer so it was our last chance. Molly (not in the picture) just turned 1. It was so much fun to swim and catch up with them.

Nose Part 2

Here is his nose the next day. I was nervous that it would be worse, but luckily it was okay.

Nose

Saturday morning when we picked Dylan up the kids were playing outside on the playset and then Blake comes in and says that Dylan feel from the roof and his nose is bleeding. He did fall off the roof of the playset and hit the beam, but hit the bottom of his nose. There was a lot of blood, but he seemed okay. His nose was tender for several days, but nothing broken.

Obstacle Warrior Kids

We went to Obstacle Warrior Kids for the last time. AND Blake and Dylan both got up on the hard wrapped wall. Blake was so excited. It was his first time.

Earlier that day Dylan went and played at Caleb's new house. It is such a great house. Prefect for them and a great neighborhood. While they played, Blake and I went shopping and got all the school supplies and went to Costco. Blake is such a helpful person when we are shopping. He even helps me put everything away when we get home. I like having him as a shopping buddy. We picked Dylan up, ate lunch, then went to Obstacle Warriors, then Blake and Dylan went over to the Neumann's to play and spend the night. She texted me that morning to see if it was okay. Aaron and I went out to dinner and watched a movie at home.

Swimming

I didn't take too many pictures of us this summer swimming, but we did it every day for several hours. We love swimming and we didn't get sick of it this year. Sometimes we were kind of over swimming by the end of August, but not this year.
