13 Months

Dylan is 13 months old. He has not been a happy camper lately. He has a cold and is teething. But that doesn't stop him from eating. Apparently he needs 3 cups and 2 spoons to eat breakfast.

Here are the words he can say: mom, dad, hot, dog, up, down, no no, yuck and thank you. I'm probably missing something. He says down much more then he says up...the opposite of Blake. Dylan wants down so that he can run around. I get kind of tired thinking about it. Our pediatrician called us yesterday and all his tests have come back normal.  He was rather squirmy for his last ultrasound. The pediatrician told us to expect that until he is at least 2. I would imagine he will be like that for much longer.

He is still eating all the time..no joke. If he is awake, he is pretty much eating. When you see how much he runs around, then it shouldn't be a surprise that he would need to eat so much.

He laughs a lot. He has the cheesiest smile when we pull out a camera. He already doesn't like being in the cart while shopping because he wants to be walking around. He also doesn't love being in the stroller for the same reason, which makes Disneyland fun. So, I have let him out so that he can walk.

Playing Outside

The kids love having a backyard where they can go outside and run around and play. I love it too.

We had some friends over. They got the tools out and "fixed" all the scooters, bikes, etc.

Dylan rode on the scooter most of the time while the other kids "fixed" stuff.

Today, it rained...which is pretty exciting for Blake because we don't see rain all that much.  He ran outside and loved running around in the rain.

I kind of thought he was going to freak out from getting wet because he freaks out whenever his shirt gets wet (he insists on changing his shirt even), but he didn't.

Happy Thanksgiving

We were able to skype with my folks who are on their mission after our dinner on Thanksgiving.  They demonstrated how to eat Oreo suckers.  Poke white part of Oreo with fork, then totally dunk Oreo in milk, pull out and enjoy without having to worry about Oreo falling apart in your fingers, etc.  With this new knowledge, the boys had to give it a try.

Dylan especially enjoyed the Oreos. We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I made a turkey for the first time this year and I might have worried about it not turning out, but it turned out.

Later, Dylan thought he would be a big boy like everyone else and try to use the computer, so he pulled himself up and started "working".  I often call Dylan "midget" but he is not.  He has been able to open doors at our house for awhile, but now he can open the doors at church.  He doesn't sit and relax...unless he is eating, so church is already a joy with him, but now well, let's just say we can't wait until he is old enough to go into nursery.

Why is it so quiet?

The other day I was doing some dishes and couldn't hear the boys so I had to go check and see what was going on. I walked into the bathroom to discover them "making a cake" in the sink.

But don't worry, Blake shared the cake with Dylan.

Do you even need to ask, Toots, so I can look good!

It's been a few weeks since my last update.  Here are a few Blake stories, hopefully you find as funny as I do.

James and his girlfriend, Amber, were kind enough last week to watch the boys while we went on a date (dinner and a movie). Blake loves, I mean loves, potato soup.  He has for a long time.  When we came home, James and Amber told us about their dinner.  There were two options for Blake's dinner 1) potato soup and 2) pizza.  James asked Blake which one he wanted.  Blake responds with "Potato soup, of course.  Do you even need to ask?"

James and Amber stayed a while after we came home and played with us. Blake followed Amber around asking her all sorts of questions, making sure he knew her schedule and everything.  It came out that she was going to come back over the next day.  So, when it was time for them to take off, Blake looked at Amber and said, "Okay.  See you tomorrow, Toots."  She now has a new nickname.

Finally, Thursday I was getting ready to head to the Turkey Bowl and play some football.  Blake was in our bathroom combing his hair.  He asked me why I was using water on my hair.  I was attempting to help him get to the answer himself, so I asked him pointing to the water sprayer right next to him and asked, "why do you use the water sprayer while you comb your hair?"  He looks up at me running the comb through his hair and replies, "so, I can look good!"

12 Months Old

Last week, Dylan went for his 12 month check up. Dylan was walking around in the exam room, squatting down to pick up a book, when the doctor said, "Hmmm, I was going to ask if you thought his development was normal, but he seems to be doing just fine." We go in for the ultrasound next week, but the results from his blood work came back normal.

His stats:
Height: 33 inches (off the charts...but super exciting because he is past the 32 inches height requirement for Blake's favorite ride at Disneyland, which we went and did a couple days after the doctor visit).
Weight: 23 pounds 9 ounces (75th percentile)...thank goodness he is walking huh?

I am glad that we live in CA because both my kids LOVE to be outside, which we can do year round. Dylan won't play inside at all anymore and climbs on everything. He thinks he is old like his brother and tries to ride the bike, scooter, etc.  He is kind of exhausting.

He got 2 more teeth and since I am an awesome mom, I realized that he really isn't a total wimp with teeth, but that he has been sick and that is why he has been so miserable. These last 2 teeth came in and I didn't even notice.

His new word is "dog" and is using "thank you" frequently and appropriately, which is my favorite. He waves and says "bye bye" when he wants to go outside. Since he can reach the doors and open them, we have to keep  the doors locked since he can't reach the locks yet.

Happy Halloween

Blake and Aaron continued their tradition of carving the pumpkin.

They carved a pirate (on left) and James' is on the right. Dylan is probably the most fascinated with these.  He says "bye bye" then wants to go outside to see the pumpkins.

We did go trick or treating.  Dylan walked and enjoyed it more than Blake did.  Dylan had no problem walking up to the door and picking out some candy. His problem was staying outside of people's houses.

Blake and I did match as firefighters.

Are we done??  Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!
