Six Flags

It certainly isn't Disneyland, but it was free. Aaron's company paid for all the employees and their families to go to Six Flags. They were giving balloons out to the kids, so one lady asked me about Dylan...so, is he 2 or 3 years old? Um, he isn't even 2 yet. It works great sometime having a super tall kid because they get to go on all the rides.

For those of you who have been to California Adventure know what the Mickey Ferris Wheel, know that it is actually a pretty crazy ride. My mistake, I took them on it once and they hated it. Perfect, Six Flags has a kid version that is slow and doesn't go super high. We went on it and they did great.

Wouldn't you know it, their favorite ride it the truck ride. As a side note, Blake was the spotlight this week in preschool. He was super excited because he got to wear the fireman jacket on "his" day and because he got to take some of his favorite things to school.

We did a couple more rides. We even did a kid roller coaster. I think Dylan enjoyed it more then Blake, but Dylan is more of our fearless kid. We got home pretty late, but it was fun to go to an amusement park because it has been a couple months since we last went (gasp!). It was also fantastic that we didn't have to pay, we got money for dinner and dippin' dots, and LOTS of drinks and chips....Pepsi and Frito-Lay products of course.
Six Flags is about an hour from our house and wow, the weather was nice at our house and then hot and humid when we got to the park. Note to self...don't live by Six Flags. At least it wasn't in the 40s like it was for the BYU football game huh?

Oh man the TV's broken and Dylan is peeing.

You really know you've done well  as a parent in teaching your kid the important things in life when they can demonstrate your teachings when you’re not in the room.  Excellent case in point evidenced by this incredible story:

I was in the office working on something on the computer and Blake comes running in.  He’s in a panic and really needs some help.  He’s voice resounds fear. “Dad, dad!  The TV is broken. “

Confused and a little concerned, I asked him, “Broken?  What’s going on?”

He responds “The TV isn't working,…… Baseball is on.”

There would be no other reason except for being broken where baseball would be playing on our TV, apparently.  My work here is done.

Additionally, some exciting news for you parents.  Those without kids aren't really going to understand the excitement we experienced—hopefully you’ll get there.

We were getting ready for bed last Saturday and going through our routine.  Before Blake gets into the bath tub he goes potty, then jumps in.  Well last Saturday, Blake had just jumped into the bath and Dylan was preparing to get in.  He looks at me and says “Potty”.  So, we've done this a few times.  We take off Dylan’s diaper and hold him over the toilet for a few seconds such to get into the habit but nothing happens.  Well Saturday as I was holding him he points down into the toilet.  I look down and Dylan is peeing.  Of course, I need to make a big deal of it to let him know he’s awesome.  He was so happy that I was happy.  There you go.  Our little guy is growing up.  What a day.  J

X Box

One of the things we inherited when we bought our new house was an Xbox. I don't know why they left it behind, but the kids were pretty happy they did.

Dylan likes it...he even plays sometimes. We got the Disneyland game, which they love. I guess since we would go to Disneyland one day a week, we were having some Dland withdrawals. It is a pretty fun game.

The previous owners even left the guitars. Apparently Dylan thinks guitars are something you eat, but Blake likes to rock. This is something fun to do when it is 100 something degrees outside and we have already gone swimming twice that day.

Finished Product

I know this is blurry, but thought it was a great picture of Blake showing us their finished project from Home Depot.

To the great disappointment of Aaron, Blake painted his red.

They were pretty proud of them.

Their projects do function as a game too.

Blake's finished product.

Dylan's finished product. They both painted them all by themselves. The painting is the least favorite part of these projects. Such a mess, but at least they have fun doing it.

Preschool

Blake is now in Preschool. It is a happy moment for me. Doing things with one kid is fantastic and Dylan likes getting some one on one time. We went and did some shopping on his first day of preschool and Dylan kept saying "Bake"...(that's what he calls Blake).

Blake got in the car after class was over and said, "I love school". Ms. Shannon, his teacher, is great, which sure makes things better.

Blake was being Blake when we first got to preschool and wanted to hangout by me, so I told Dylan to go play with the kids, so he did and then immediately Blake went and followed and did totally fine.

Tree House Park

We like to go to parks. It is still over 100 degrees here during the day so we don't spend as long at the park anymore, but we still go when I am nice enough to take them. It is much easier to let the kids just play in the backyard on their "park" as they call it. But if we did that all the time, then we would miss out on some fun and different adventures. We found a park, which we call the Tree house Park because it looks like a huge tree house. It also has a fun trail, which we had to check out. They were most excited about the bridge and the sign that warned us about snakes.

Dylan likes to do his own thing.

Blake walks a little bit faster then Dylan.

It had a nice, shaded place under the place structure for us to eat lunch.

Dylan is a climber and he can be because he is crazy strong.

Finally a fun picture of Blake.

Hanging out in the restaurant and escaping the bird.

Yes, there was a parrot at the park that belonged to the man in the red shirt. He was super noisy and annoying. We were very happy when it left.

Home Depot

This morning we went to Home Depot to participate in the monthly Kids Workshops where they have free projects for the kids to build. The kids love it. This month, to celebrate football season, we built a football ring toss  game. The kids go a little crazy with the paint...it is probably dry now, but I don't have a picture of the final product. Dylan was very excited to use a hammer, but not excited about wearing the apron.

Blake on the other hand, loved wearing his apron and wouldn't take it off. We had to go to Walmart on our way home and saw a fire truck....and he is still sporting the apron.

Pulp and other stories

Pulp, is there anything as valueless as pulp?  We asked Blake the other day if he wanted some orange juice. He responded with," uhh, only if it doesn't have poop in it."  We corrected him that it's called pulp and not poop.  So, he spent the next few minutes trying to say pulp instead of poop.  He was right about half the time.  He'd stop us and say, "I can say it now."  Then say poop.  It was hard not to laugh every time.  What a great way to describe orange juice pulp, huh? For those that like pulp--come on, let's get with it.

I told Blake the other day he was doing a great job.  He turns and looks at me and says " Yeah, what are you gonna do?"

Well, I think we've figured out Dylan's favorite food (this time).  Regardless of the time of day, early in the morning or at night, whenever we ask Dylan what he wants to eat he shouts "Pizzas!".  Without fail.  Very funny.

Dylan is turning into quite a dancer too.  When the music is playing the kid is grooving.  Yesterday we were playing with Mega blocks and the music was going.  Dylan would pick up a block and while adding to a tower or building a car garage he was grooving and bop-ing.  Now if we could monetize that constant movement we could really be in business.
