Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny sent the boys on a treasure hunt to find their baskets. The first stop was in the office.

Next, they went to the media room.

Next was the living  room.

Next was the guest bedroom.

That finally led them to Aaron's garage where they found their baskets.

After we ate breakfast, the boys went on another easter egg hunt.

We hope you had a happy Easter!

On a side note, Aaron's folks are on their mission in Nauvoo, Il. Their first assignment is in Carthage, which is where they will be for 6 months. We are excited to hear about their mission.

Easter Eggs

Yesterday we colored our Easter Eggs.

They were so excited to see how to eggs turned out.

We all had fun coloring and decorating our eggs....and then eating them.

Park

After they ran around for 2 hours, we went to a nearby park, ate some lunch, and then played.

It was a really fun park.

John Deere tractor.

Open Gym

Friday we went with our friends to an open gym day in a neighboring city. I wasn't sure if Blake would like it....he loved it.

So did Dylan.

Dylan loved running around the little "track" that went around half the building. I might have raced with him.

Proper use of the equipment right? These kids were running around for 2 hours, it was hard to get pictures of them.

Kindergarten

-
Yesterday we registered Blake for Kindergarten and went on a tour of the school. The school is really nice and a lot more technology in the classrooms then when I was a kid. Go figure. Kindergarten has its own corridor so I think that will help with the transition and starting school and ending school as the same time as all the other grades. Blake said, "This is awesome". He loved the school. He got to run around in the gym, sit in the cafeteria, and go in the big library...it is huge! The kids get to do art, music and PE 4 days of the week. In August Blake will get tested to see how they will divide the classes, then a couple weeks later, we find out which class he is in and then a couple days later, he will start school. We saw a bunch of friends that we know, so hopefully he will end up with at least one of them in his class.

Preschool Graduation

Ms. Shannon, Blake's preschool teacher, is having her baby (4th girl) next week, so she had an early graduation for the kids so she would be able to participate. Starting next week, Blake will have a new teacher for about a month until school is out.

We lost a couple kids over the year...one kid was hitting kids, so he wasn't allowed to come anymore. Then 2 kids couldn't get there on time...good luck getting to kindergarten next year at 8 huh? Another kid moved. Another kid was sick for graduation.  Since part of the reason we do this blog is for our own records/journal, the kids in his class are Conner, Brandon, Brennian, Khloe, Reese, Aithen, and Olivia. The kids who were previously in his class are Payton, Lily, Caden, Brocks, and Arthur. A lot of boys!

Blake got the positive award. Her comments were, "Blake loves participating in class activities. He is a great listener, is always on task, and always works hard to finish assignments.  I love what a happy and optimistic kid he is." Of course there are some things that he needs to work on before kindergarten, but he is doing great. We think Ms. Shannon is great too!

After graduation, they had an Easter egg hunt. Aaron was able to sneak away from work for a little bit to come. It was his first time meeting Ms. Shannon. Funny thing is that Aaron plays basketball with her husband, so they know each other, but I have never met her husband.

Our almost ready for kindergarten kiddo.

Happy Birthday Blake

Blake turned 5 yesterday! He wanted to open presents before school. What a surprise!

He got a camping Playmobil set from mom and dad.

He also got a Lego tow truck from mom and dad.

Grandma and Grandpa Bass got the boys matching BYU ties.

They also got him some books. We read them both right when he got home from school.

They also gave him some money and a Despicable Me 2 shirt.

And a John Deere shirt and more money.

Great-Grandma sent him a card and some money.

Grandma and Grandpa Johnson sent him some birthday money too.

It ended up being a pretty chilly day, but Blake was excited because that meant he could wear the long sleeve happy birthday shirt that still fit from last year. (Last year we were in Ohio visiting my folks on their mission and celebrated Blake's birthday out there so Grandma found this fun shirt for him.)

Blake wanted Dylan to take a picture with him.

Blake wanted to go to a restaurant. We rarely go out to eat, so it was a treat. He was even more excited to get some ice cream.

Blake took some cupcakes with him to school. They also sang to him. Blake wanted a strawberry cake with strawberry frosting, so Dylan and I made that while he was at school. I am so glad they don't ask for anything elaborate (knock on wood).

Today we went in for his 5 year check up. He is healthy and off the charts for his height. We were told that he wasn't going to need a shot, but the vaccination schedule for Texas isn't the same as California, so this meant he needed to get 1 shot. He was not happy about it. Now we are good to register for kindergarten on Thursday.

We got to Skype with some cousins, who wanted to wish him a happy birthday and asked when he was coming back to California. Thanks for all the birthday wishes...calls, texts, etc.

Blake is a fun kid. Crazy how fast they grow up!
