Teething

I've heard some parents say that they didn't know that their kids were teething and that one day, teeth just appeared. Well, Blake lets it be known to everyone that he is teething. You can see the bottom teeth, but now that top ones are coming in and he hates life.

13 Months

Last week Blake turned 13 months old, and here are some things that he likes to do.

Likes to drink out of the sports bottle.

He likes to take out and eat the electrical outlet covers. Worthless baby proofing item huh?

And...he loves to walk! He is all over the place. People told me that I don't want him to walk, but so far I love him walking, it is the climbing that I don't love. Oh, and behind him in the picture is our front door, which he can now open. He likes to open the door and look at all the cars passing by...not good.

He has expanded his vocabulary and understands some commands and will even obey some. For example, when I tell him to go upstairs because we need to change his diaper, he will go over to the stairs and go up to his room. He knows what it means to put on his shoes, but is still working on being able to put on his shoes. He does love to get our shoes for us, but he takes our socks off if we are in the house because he thinks we only wear socks if we are going outside. He loves his ball and will go get his ball when we ask him to. Hmm...does he sound like a little dog?

Trip to the Beach

Aaron's folks are here for a visit, so we took them to one of our favorite beaches.

Blake is showing me what sand looks like.
He liked the beach.

One of the reasons why we like the beach is that it has a park.

Visitors

Our friends Owen, Britni and Mia moved to New Mexico a year ago and were in town this week, so they stopped by for some food and fun. We sure miss them!

All Ready For Bed

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw how Aaron styled Blake's hair after his bath the other night.

1 Year Old

On Blake's birthday we went to lunch with some fabulous friends, Jen and Katie. It was a lot of fun and Blake loved the food...or loved having the food all over his face. Thanks guys for eating with us!

This midget isn't such a midget anymore. At his 1 year check up, he was in the 90th percentile for height and 55 for weight. The doctor was impressed with how many words he is saying. Here are the things he says (and that we understand):
-mom
-dad
-hi
-bye
-ball
-up
-no
-you
-all done
-more (in sign language)
He has 4 teeth coming in...finally, but he still doesn't walk more than a couple of steps on his own.

First Birthday

We celebrated Blake's birthday this weekend. Since Blake will eat just about anything, it was no surprise that he loved his cupcake.

We're not sure if Blake or his cousins liked Blake's new toy more.

Birthday boy with Grandma and Grandpa.
What a cute guy...and a cute little kid too.

What a look, huh?

A Shaky Easter for Snaky

The practical Easter bunny came to our house and brought Blake some clothes and some toys.
This is Blake's first Easter egg hunt. We did this right after the earthquake and as you can see, he is still a little confused about what's going on. The hunt took place in the front yard while the waves in pool in the backyard were calming down from the quake.
Blake's cousins had fun finding their eggs.

Blake loves playing with his cousins and thankfully they love playing with him.

Happy Easter

This is an example of the cheesy smile that I mentioned in a previous post. Don't you love it? I also love the fact that he is playing with the packing that the Easter candy came in and has no interest at all in the candy. Happy Easter!

Fun at the park

I realized that I don't have many pictures of Blake at the park, so I remembered to take the camera the other day. I quickly got this picture before...

he got the carrying case. Why play with the play equipment when you have a camera case to play with?
