California Science Center

After seeing the space shuttle, we went and checked out inside. The kids loved the kitchen.

They also enjoyed the vegetable garden outside.

Then we all tried to lift up the Tundra.

Space Shuttle Endeavour

Sept. 21, 2012 Blake, Dylan and I were at Disneyland and it just happened to be the day that the Space Shuttle Endeavor was making its flight over Disneyland (and other SoCal spots) on its last flight. It then landed at LAX and then made its way to the California Science Center.

While we were out in CA, we made a visit to the Science Center with Grandma and Grandpa.

They had a model of the mission control room with footage from its last launch.

They thought it was pretty cool.

Dylan has an obsession with Buzz Lightyear, so anything space related is that much cooler to this little boy. He was disappointed that we didn't find Buzz anywhere.

Preschool Gingerbread House

I have serious catching up to do on this blog, so these are a bit old. Last month, Blake made this fun gingerbread house at preschool.

It lasted the car ride home before Dylan and Blake ate it.

Horse Park

As mentioned before, we went to California a couple weeks ago for my brother's wedding. We got to Grandma and Grandpa's house, ate some food, and went to the park to get out some energy.

We were able to go to the Horse Park (as they call it because there are horse stables next to the park).

There are several things that make CA and TX different, but some things that we miss a lot about CA are the great weather and the great parks. I guess if you can spend nearly every day of the year outside because the weather is fantastic, then why not have fantastic parks..and a lot of them. I must say, our Treehouse Park here in Texas is pretty awesome. I just wish there were more awesome parks close by.

Home Depot

We went to Home Depot again last weekend and made these calendars.

Silly Kids

Dylan is dramatic at times and very expressive. This is his typical pouting face.

Would you be afraid of this kid in a football game?

Decorating for the Wedding

The night before the wedding, Aaron watched the boys so I could go help decorate. Aaron probably had the easier deal. We did not have enough ladders, so we used a table, which required some stretching and dangerous moves.

We finished it.

James and Shannon even helped.

Here are some of the finished decorations.

Cute idea to have popcorn huh? Big hit with the kids.

Blake's favorite part was the cake.

James and Shannon's Wedding

Aaron got back from Turkey and a couple days later we headed out to CA for my brother's wedding. Here is Grandpa with all the grandkids.

While we were waiting for James and Shannon to come out of the temple, the boys ran around. Dylan loves Seth and Seth loves Dylan. My boys sure miss their cousins.

Here they are.

Happy couple.

With the niece and nephews.

Our family..after way too many pictures for the kids.

James with his nephews...minus Dylan, who was asleep. Dylan was the party animal...poor kid was stuck on Texas time.

We think Shannon is awesome and excited for her to be apart of the family.

What a difference a week makes

This was taken on 12/2...last Monday. Notice the temperature...81.9 degrees.

This was taken on 12/9...a week later from that 80 degree weather. Blake was super excited to find such a huge icicle, although he kept calling it a popsicle. So hopefully next Monday we can be back to normal temperatures. School was cancelled Friday, Monday and part of Tuesday (starting 2 hours later). Are Texans wimpy? Maybe, but there is serious ice on the roads still. Ice is so much more lame then snow. What fun is ice...other then super huge icicles? It is currently 19 degrees, so nothing like other places I know, but still cold and not warm enough to melt this ice. Last night, Blake discovered a dead bird on our front yard...it didn't survive the cold. The boys did think it was super cool though.

Ice, snow and more ice

We have been hit by a lovely winter storm. Wednesday it was 77 degrees and the next day the fun started.

So, we need to get some real gloves for Dylan and some warmer clothes because he was too cold. Friday when we went out to play, he didn't like it at all, but on Saturday, he had a blast....until he was too cold, then he went inside.

Blake helped me clear off the tramp.

Yep...this is some ice that was on a tree in the backyard. Pretty thick!

I think this is Dylan's first time seeing snow.

A picture from Dylan's room. Not a ton, but caused some damage. They said 270,000 people were (some still are) without electricity, a couple deaths, way too many flights cancelled, community activities cancelled, church cancelled, etc. The ice is a killer. The high yesterday was 25, so nothing is melting.

This was Thursday when it first started to ice/snow. Luckily we had some friends over Thursday morning to play because we haven't left our house since. We are going a little crazy.

Aaron, the one who is much more familiar with cold weather, is of course, in Turkey. Oh well, we took care of business. We had a lot of things planned to help keep us busy while Aaron was gone, but most of those things didn't happen because of the weather.
