Treehouse Park

Today was Blake's first day of 2nd grade. So the last couple of weeks we have been trying to squeeze in as many activities as possible.

We went to the treehouse park. It was so hot. That week we were around 104 degrees, but with our heat index it was 109...this is at 7pm.

We got to the park at 8:30 and by 9am they needed to play in the water. We saw someone from church while we were eating our snack...she was riding her bike. There is a pretty great trail at this park.

Another Soccer Game

Can I tell you how much I love summer in Texas? Okay, I don't like them at all. It was 100 degrees at 9:30 in the morning...on our way to do the Home Depot project.

Blake had a game at 11:45. Blake played well. The day before we found out that Blake was back on the Dragons outdoor team...with Coach Michelle and Jake. They didn't want to coach the Dragons during the summer because they wanted a break, but their son was still on the team, so we still see them a lot. They were telling us that they were going to coach their younger son's team as well and the soccer association that we play with put all these preschoolers on the team. Her son is going into Kindergarten. Well, today we were at the park and I received an email from her saying that Dylan was on the team. At first she didn't realize it was my Dylan Johnson...thought it was another one. So, we know the coaches and we know one player. We also have Truett on our team who was on Dylan's last outdoor team.

The really cool part. Since we have the same coaches coaching our boys, they have picked their practice time to be back to back. So Dylan practices on Thursday at 6 and Blake is at 6:30. One night...fantastic. It also means we won't ever have a game conflict. Awesome. Dylan is also pretty excited because the team name is the Ninja Warriors...such a cool name.

Dragons Game

Friday was the first day of the tax free weekend in Texas so we spent the morning shopping for school clothes. After lunch we went swimming and then Blake had a game after dinner. He did great and so did the rest of the team. Blake almost scored.

Books

The boys have to read books every day and also do some school work. Some days they do it longer then others. Wednesday we were reading a book and it said, "and a knuckle sandwich". Gramps always asks the boys if they want a knuckle sandwich..he is just kidding of course, so we took a picture and sent it to Gramps.

Later that day we had Beckett and Kelsey come over to swim.

Orthodontist and Library Program

Last Tuesday we went to the orthodontist in the morning. The office was fine enough and we liked the staff enough. The orthodontist said we will put expanders in his mouth in about 6 months instead of pulling teeth. Then he would get braces to line up his front teeth and do this for a couple months. Then we wait until he is about 14 and do braces again. BUT he said that Blake is tongue tied and he needs it clipped and to see an oral surgeon. Aaron's brother is an oral surgeon so we chatted with him about it to get his opinion.

After that appointment, we went to the library and made the program. It was the Heard Museum...which we like to go to. They showed us 2 turtles and 1 snake. It was interesting. Blake saw his classmate Jonah.

After the program, we went home for lunch and then went swimming. That night Blake's friend picked him up for soccer practice.

North Pole

Sunday we had a couple of people come up to us and tell us how Blake had some great dance moves and some great exercise moves in Primary. We asked him about it when we got home and he said that he had to go to the front during singing time and dance and all the kids would follow him. He ran out of dance moves so he started doing squats and jumping jacks. People thought we had family exercise time...we told them that we did it all together sometimes. Of course the next morning, they were doing sit ups.

Later in the day the boys each got a post card from the North Pole. They were excited.

After dinner, we finally finished this. Aaron brought this back from Japan not totally realizing what nano blocks were...they are tiny tiny! Aaron saw this Skytree tower when he was in Japan.

Go Avengers

Saturday was Dylan's last indoor soccer game with the Avengers. They lost.

Hopefully these couple weeks off between seasons will get him focused.

Perot Museum

On Friday we went to the Perot Museum. Our friends planned on meeting us there, but they didn't end up making it, so we went to their house on our way home to play instead.

We went to the Children's section of the museum. When we were walking in the lady said, "Um, excuse me, but this area is for families with a kid 5 or under." I told them that Dylan was 4. She responded with, "Really?" Um, yes. So then she said, "Well, make sure the older brother acts nicely around the younger kids in here."

Sometimes he has a hard  time smiling.

We saw the exhibit, which was on collections. I didn't take many pictures at all. There were some very valuable things there so security was everywhere.

I thought this was super cool..a necklace made out of plastic bags.

Cowboy Super Bowl rings.

This is gold found in Alaska. My folks are currently in Alaska. Blake said, "Hey, do you think Grandma and Gramps will find some?"

30 million years old...um, okay.

Very fascinating. The budget for the US.

Texas Money!!

Can't go to the Perot and not play with the robots.

Crazy Times

Last Wednesday we took Amy and her family to the airport. We drove her car so the boys were out of their element a little. We got home and played and then Blake had his soccer practice.

Thursday morning we went for the boys' teeth cleaning. No cavities, but we were told that Blake needed to see an orthodontist pretty soon about getting some teeth pulled. (We are going today).

They got to pick out some toys, and they liked the mustache.

They spent a lot of the day doing crafts too.

I had to go pick up somethings from a friend's house for pack meeting later that night so we stopped by Blake's school playground on the way home to play.

After that we came home and ate lunch, then swam for a couple hours.

Pack meeting was Olympics based and was going to be a water activity. It had poured every afternoon that entire week.  That morning it was supposed to rain, but it didn't. Instead, on our drive over, it started to thunder and lightning. We got through the flag ceremony, awards and a little activity when it started to pour. No swimming. Bummer.
