Car Seats

Dylan has not been a happy camper in his car seat lately. While not nearly as annoying as when he was a baby and would scream once in his car seat until we changed his car seat, I needed to do something about it. So, we flipped him around to forward facing. They want us to wait until they are 2 now, which is crazy, but thought we would keep him backwards for as long as he would tolerate it. Since he was already in a convertible car seat, we didn't have to buy another car seat, we just needed to flip him...so we did...and he was super happy. So we made it to 14 months before we flipped him...better then I thought. He obviously clearly met the weight and height minimums (months and months ago).

In other news, I am still in RS at church, but am going to be teaching the 8 year old kids at church for the next 6 weeks.

My Knees are Great!

Blake is now a Sunbeam in primary! The Monday after his first week, out of the blue said, "Mom, you know what I learned at church?" "No, what did you learn?" Blake says, "that my knees are great". I am a little confused so I ask if he learned this from a teacher or from his music teacher to which he responds, "the girl teacher." This meant his primary teacher since his music teacher is a guy and he knows his name. Since I taught sunbeams for a number of years and nursery, where the same manual for sunbeams was used...I knew the lessons so I thought about the lessons on being thankful for your ears, hands, etc, but I didn't remember anything specifically about knees. I asked Blake to tell me more about his knees being great. So then he starts singing, "and so my knees are great".  I laugh, oooooh, the lyrics are "and so my Needs are great".  Needless to say, we have been practicing that verse a bit more often now.

Food

I was making dinner and it had been 1 1/2 hours since they last ate, so apparently they were hungry and decided to help themselves. Dylan stuffed his face with uncooked pasta.

His current favorite fruit is blackberries.

He loves to pull out bowls and put spoons in every bowl that he pulls out.

Blake won't eat an otter pop without hot pads because his hands get too cold.

Dylan doesn't care how cold his hands get.

Happy New Year

Did you miss us? I missed us. We have been sick. How sick? Blake took a nap 5 days in a row. Some folks have said that they secretly like it when their kids are sick because then they cuddle, etc. I do not like it when my kids are sick. It was really weird to have kids just sit and not want to do anything. This is what it would be like to have calm kids?! Kind of boring. Dylan was not only sick, but also teething, so there were some rough nights.  I can always tell how the kids are feeling by how much they eat.  It wasn't until Monday that both the kids ate like their normal ravenous selves.

On a probably just as depressing and stressful note, we have started our house hunt.  The real estate market is crazy! Who thought it would be totally normal to make offers on houses without even seeing them and then be outbid by 10 other people when the house has been on the market for a day? As we have mentioned before, Blake is terrified of dogs thanks to my brother's dog. Every house we go into, Blake asks if there are dogs inside. He waits and listens for a dog.

On a fun note...Dylan can make the sound that monkeys make. It is the only animal that he has down, but it is a fun one to know. He has a shirt that has a monkey on it, which is probably his favorite shirt because he picks it out of his drawer all the time. (It is one that my mom got him for his bday) When you ask where the monkey is, he points to it on his shirt and makes the monkey sound. When he isn't wearing the shirt and you ask what a monkey says, he will point to his shirt (where the monkey would be on the other shirt) and make the sound of a monkey.

Now that Blake is feeling better, he has enjoyed riding his bike outside.  I like my healthy kids!
