Happy Mother's Day

While I was at the baptism Saturday night, the boys got ready for Mother's Day. They wrapped the presents and then talked about the plan for Mother's Day. Blake was really excited for the plan so he woke up at 6 to get breakfast started. The boys made blueberry scones. While they were making the scones, the tornado siren went off. We didn't get a tornado though, but a ton of rain. They have now had to open our flood gates on our lakes and reservoirs because our levels are so high. This is a dramatic difference from a couple months ago. At church our bishopric said they thought it was safe to stop praying for rain. It is great news for our lakes, but it has totally saturated our ground, which isn't great because we have clay here. It also has destroyed some crops because there has been too much rain. But the bummer for us (other then the destroyed fence and roof) is we haven't been able to go swimming. We can't go swimming in lightning and thunderstorms :(

After we ate breakfast, I opened some presents. Ward Council was canceled so we had extra time to hang out inside. As a side note our Bishop is moving so he is trying to wrap things up/check out of things. It has been kind of nice because they have been on top of calling people into Primary to fill my spots. We'll see how much a new Bishopric will impact our Primary. At church, the primary kids sang and did a great job. Both Blake and Dylan participated. One of the youth speakers had interviewed some kids for her talk. The boys said that I was nice, they love me and I cook good food. In Sharing Time it was obvious that everyone had serious cabin fever, but we plugged through. That night the boys made hamburgers for dinner. We got to talk with both Grandmas for Mother's Day. We hope all Moms had a wonderful day and you were spoiled!!

Super Heros

Since the kids couldn't play outside in the thunderstorm, they played inside and were Super Heroes. These are the masks that they made at Blake's birthday party.

Storms

A week and a half ago we had a big storm. There wasn't a tornado that touched down in our city, but we had serious wind and rain...the proof is in our fence. I went outside to go check it out and I found a couple of roof shingles on the ground. I was hoping that they were from someone else's roof.

Dylan had his friend Austin over and it just happened to be that he came over during the few hours that it wasn't pouring rain so we took advantage and went outside and got some energy out.

Friday night it poured rain all night and pretty much all of Saturday. Saturday night we had a baptism that went well.

Cowboy Park

Monday was the last day with Grandma and Grandpa. We dropped Blake off at school, then I took Dylan to get his ultrasound done. It was great to have lots of help especially when we had to keep Dylan out of the kitchen since he needed to be fasting for his scan. Dylan did great and looked forward to his cookie at the doctor's office afterwards. He was grouchy though, but Grandma and Grandpa had breakfast all ready when we got home. Then he was happy!  After the scan we went to the Cowboy Park. It was nice outside. A little warm, but not bad. We actually had great weather while Grandma and Grandpa were here.

Dylan had a great time playing with Grandma and Grandpa and being the center of attention.

We then went to Costco for lunch. We picked up Blake from school then headed to the airport to drop off Grandma and Grandpa. The boys were so sad to see them go. We sure had a fun time. I love that Grandma and Grandpa are able to visit with us occasionally and build relationships with the kiddos. Thanks for visiting!

Boy Time

Since the night before Aaron and I went horseback riding, the boys still had horses on their mind and decided that Grandpa would make a great horse to ride on.

Then Dylan decided he should be the horse and Grandpa should be the rider, but Grandpa is slightly bigger then Dylan so Grandpa pretended to ride on the horse.

The boys with Grandpa. Grandma got some great pictures that I will have to post sometime.

Horseback Riding

Saturday morning we all went to Home Depot to do the project. We then got some donuts and did some more projects at home. Then Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids so Aaron and I could go on another fun date..this time it was horseback riding. This was my first time. I was waiting for them to give some instruction, so once I got on the horse and they wanted us to follow...I told them that I had I needed some instruction, so I got about 1 minute worth of instruction. It was good that these were well trained horses!

The ride was about 2 hours and it was pretty.

This horse's name is Joker, so I had to take a picture to show Blake.

Aaron's horse was Mack.

Mine was Paulie. It was a fun date. We were a little sore the next day, but it was a lot of fun.

Perot Museum

Thursday while both the kids were at school, my parents and I went shopping.

Friday Blake had a field trip to a ranch, so we took Grandma and Grandpa on a field trip to the Perot Museum. Dylan loved being able to pick out what to do. Grandpa was showing Dylan how the locks work, since Grandpa just went through them in Panama.

Dylan had to show Grandpa the black widow.

They went camping.

Then Dylan wanted Grandpa to race the TRex with him.

Aaron was at his office the same day which is really close to the Museum so he met us for lunch.

Dylan was excited that Aaron showed up.

We then went and checked out a couple more things, but they really liked the robots and being able to program the cars.

We wish we had more time, but we had to go to get Blake from school. For dinner, we went to Hutchins for some great BBQ and ice cream. Dylan loves the brisket and Blake loves their ham, mashed potatoes and ice cream. It is currently their favorite places to eat so we had to let Grandma and Grandpa experience it. After we ate, we looked at some really nice houses that were being built.

Surprise Visit

Monday after school, Blake went over to his friend Cooper's house. Tuesday we had our last play date with Sophie. She came over to our house. I got to see pictures of their new house in Arizona...it is such a nice house. We are excited for them, but will miss them. Sophie and Dylan had such a fun time together.

Then after school, I told I had a surprise for the kids. We drove to the airport and picked up Grandma and Grandpa. They went on a cruise that left CA went through the Panama Canal (with lots of other stops along the way) and ended in Ft. Lauderdale where they caught a plane and came to Texas. The boys were so surprised and so excited. The next day we surprised him again by joining him for lunch at his school. He loved it.

The boys love their grandparents. We kept Grandpa busy with some projects and Dylan was able to "help" with some. Hopefully the kids will learn some of Grandpa's handy man skills.

Brynn and Sloane's Birthday Party

April 27 Blake and I went to Brynn and Sloane's birthday party at the Sci-Tech Center. These girls are both in Blake's class at school. They are best friends with birthdays a couple weeks apart so they had a joint birthday party. It was cute. We got to play first.

Then we all gathered in one of the rooms and they got to play with bubbles.

They were able to have a bubble around them. Claire went first while Blake waited.

Pretty cool.

After they did all sorts of bubble stuff and ate cake, we got to play more.

Blake's other buddy, Vivienne.

We then headed home and I got ready. Our babysitter came over and Aaron and I were off to a dance lesson. We have been trying to have more fun dates lately, so Aaron  surprised me with this dance lesson. When we told Blake that we were going to take some dance lessons, he told us, "Um, you don't need to take dance lessons...we have Just Dance." He didn't really believe me that there were other dances outside of that game. We learned the west coast swing....or some of it. We aren't really awesome...yet. But we had fun and then we got some dinner and came home. The boys wanted to see our dance as soon as we got home.

Catching Up

A couple weeks ago we went to the library. Dylan was so excited to read the Batman book that he couldn't wait until we got home. Our friend Sophie is moving (today actually) so we planned to meet up with Sophie and Lacie at the park, but on our drive there, it started to rain a lot so we went to lunch instead. The next day after preschool, Dylan had his blood drawn. He cried a little bit. I try to get him to look away from the needle, but he insists on watching them the whole time. Then we picked up Blake from school and headed over to Brexton's house. Friday Dylan went over to his friend, Austin's house.  Later that night we had the missionaries over.
