He's learning

Blake has done some pretty funny things lately that I thought I should post before I forget.
1. Blake was playing with Aaron's phone (his phone is probably his favorite thing to play with). The phone has a picture of Blake on it, which Blake saw, pointed to the picture and said, "you". I guess we need to stop telling him that's you and say that's Blake.
2. I frequently ask Blake questions and never get a response--unusual right? Well, yesterday at the park I asked him if he wanted to go home. He responded this time with..."no". We stayed a little bit longer.
3. Blake is great at going up the stairs and now at going down the stairs, but can't really transition himself yet from crawling over to the stairs to go down, so he will usually wait for someone to turn his body for him. Sometimes he doesn't want to go upstairs when I want him to (surprise), so what I have done is to put a toy a couple of stairs above, then once we get close to the toy I move the toy up another couple of stairs and keep doing this until we make it upstairs. Yesterday, we were upstairs and he took a toy over and put it on the first stair going down and just looked at me. It didn't take me too long to figure out that someone wanted to go downstairs.
4. Blake is a little social guy. At the park, he is always "talking" to his little friends, but most of them usually don't "talk" back. He will now even wave bye to his friends, but nothing in return. So, as you can imagine, when we go to stores where there are adults who love kids, he has a blast. I am pretty sure Blake is known by all the staff at our local grocery store. He always gives them a cheesy smile (he has 2 smiles..his real one and the fake, cheesy smile) and then will wave to them when we leave. Of course it is a bonus when other costumers come up to Blake--he loves that and will give them the same cheesy smile.

Lick it clean

He has been trained well...make sure your plate/bowl is clean.

Oh wait, there is a little bit left.

Now he is happy.

11 Months Old

His new word...whoa! Fits him perfectly.

He is getting way too tall and way too smart. He loves to pull EVERYTHING out of drawers (and will figure a way to get into them if he is too short to stand and get into them). His favorite drawer is the office supply drawer.

He found the post it notes. Here he is "sharing" them with me after I called his name. I'm guessing he thinks that if he shares, then he won't get in trouble.

Trip to the zoo

Since Aaron had the week off, we took Blake to the zoo.

He loved watching the birds.

Blake waving at the Bald Eagle.

James is back

My brother got back from his mission this week so we went to the airport to pick him up.

This is Blake meeting his uncle for the first time. Nothing but love.

Wake up and dance

So, the other day Blake was taking a nap (I know totally unlike him). Once he woke up Michelle turned on some Goo Goo Dolls and immediately Blake started dancing. So, Michelle quickly grabbed the video camera and captured what you see here. Music apparently is in his bones.

Still hates snow

Aaron had to go to Utah this past weekend for some recruiting, so Blake and I joined him. Aaron went skiing one day, so Blake and I went to pick him up from skiing, since Blake isn't able to ski very well yet. I think it will be a long time before Blake even wants to try to ski because skiing requires being in the snow, and as you can see, he hates the snow. It is impossible to get him to smile when he is in the snow.
While Aaron was working, Blake and I were able to hang out with Aaron's brother, Adam, and the Mrs. plus the chill little Mia. Thanks for letting Blake destroy, oh I mean, discover all the fun things at your house. Just wait, that will be Mia in a couple of months.

10 Months Old

Believe it or not, Blake turns 10 months old tomorrow. Here are some things that he does now:
-Says mama and dada (dada did come first)
-Also says up, which isn't surprising since he always wants to be up at our level to see what is going on (must be tough being short)
-Waves with both hands, at the same time (to make sure you see him waving?) He loves to wave at the cars we pass on our walks
-Lets us know when the timer goes off, we pass a dog, the phone rings, etc
-Dances (we've tried to get it on video, but he stops dancing once we start filming)
-Loves to feed himself and is pretty successful
-Crawls up the stairs

The Joys of Electronics

Aaron just built a HTPC and now, more than ever, Blake has had the urge to type away on the keyboard. Luckily we have a ton of extra computer supplies, so Blake now has his own keyboard that he can type on while we type on ours.

Blake has learned how to use a calculator too. He doesn't believe in having it turned the correct direction though.

Here, there, and everywhere

After Blake wakes up in the morning (and after he eats) the first thing he wants to do is to walk. Blake has been holding our fingers while he walks for support. In order to help preserve our backs, Blake got a toy that he can push and he is so excited about it. (So are our backs!)

If he isn't walking, then he is crawling. This kid doesn't like to stop. He would rather walk or crawl than to play with toys. Boys are active huh? He was pretty bugged that I was calling to him to take a picture.
