Who Likes Ties?

Monday I had a bunch of things to catch up on. One of them was to get Blake's school supplies all ready and organized...along with sharpening all the pencils. While I was doing that, the boys came down and Dylan decided to put on all of his ties. He can be silly.

Angie's Visit

A couple months ago my friend Angie came for a quick visit. She had work again in Dallas, so she came up on Saturday, spent the night with us and then went to her hotel. We swam, watched a movie in our media room and visited. She also came to church with us, which was super fun. We love Angie and are so happy she came to visit.

Aaron has a collection now from his flights of eye masks. Aaron doesn't use them and the boys discovered them so they each have their own. Usually they just play with them, but Dylan decided to sleep with it one night. He looked pretty cute even if it was ridiculous.

Library and Soccer

Thursday morning I painted the guest bathroom...finally. It took me awhile to find the paint I wanted and then it took me even longer to get time to paint it, but it is done and I like it. The highlight of the painting project was when Dylan says, "Um, Mom, you should come look at this." I walk over to him and he points down at our back door where a skunk is. He sniffed around our door and then left. We've had bunnies in our backyard and snakes, but the skunk is new and I hope that never happens again.

After I painted, we went to the library.

I had a baptism to go to, so Aaron took the boys to Blake's soccer practice. At this point we hadn't heard from Dylan's coach and there was rumor that they were still looking for a coach so he was very sad. He went in his soccer gear and kicked the ball around with Aaron. After the baptism I came to watch and caught the last 15 minutes. Michele is the assistant coach and her husband is the head coach. She texted me a couple days before to let me know. We were happy it was them because we know them and Blake was in the same class last year as their son. Half the team was in the same class last year so, then another kid Paxton, was in Blake's PE/Art/Music class. Blake is in the white shirt in the picture clearly paying attention to kicking the ball to Coach Jake. My favorite thing was at the end of practice, the parents had to sign a form saying they would not yell at the players, other parents or the coaches during practice and at games.

We found out the next day who Dylan's coach would be and when practice would be. That made his day. On Friday we also had the people I visit teach over for swimming.

Perot Museum

Last Tuesday we went to the Perot Museum. As usual, we had a great time.

This will be the last trip to the museum before school starts.

The next day we had Beckett, Kelsey, baby Ledger. and their mom Cambria over to swim and play.  Ledger is now 2 months old and wearing 6 month old clothes. Sounds like Dylan.

More Swimming

The following Monday we had Brexton, Macie, Brian and their mom, Megan over for swimming. They just moved a city away, but we hadn't seen them in a couple of months. This summer has been busy. It was great to visit with them.

Last Day of Sports Camp

Friday we dropped Dylan off at Sports Camp and then Blake and I went school shopping. In Texas it was tax free weekend on school supplies and clothes...and tons of sales so it was a great day for shopping. We got a few school clothes, the remaining items on the school supplies list and their soccer stuff. I then got a call from Coach Jordan saying that Dylan was again having a rough day and that I needed to come get him. Clearly Coach Jordan doesn't have any kids of his own because well, he wouldn't be calling me unless Dylan was injured. So, we watched him. Oh, Aaron was able to come for the last 30 minutes on Thursday, which made Dylan's day.

Dylan's favorite game was Sharky Sharky. We played it several times at home.

Dylan was the youngest in his camp. Most are 5 years old. The kids were (I just can't get over some of these names)... Eaton, Abby (normal name), Grafton (took me a day, but then I got that he is a boy), Riley, Brogan (interesting huh? But he was a nice kid and so is his mom...she just moved here from San Diego and worked for PwC in Chicago).

Aside from me wishing coach didn't call me to tell me to come get Dylan, he was a patient coach.

We went home and ate lunch, then Austin and Aithen came over. They left and about 30 minutes later, the Critchfields came over for dinner and swimming. Shannon Critchfield was Blake and then Dylan's preschool teacher...she is also Lacie's mom. Dylan is going to a closer preschool this year, which will work out great because Beckett is going to the same school so we will carpool. Anyway, it was a fun dinner.

Saturday morning we did some yard work, then Aaron's Aunt Verena from Houston came by for lunch with her husband and their 3 youngest kids on their drive up to see her sister, Aaron's mom in Nauvoo. Aaron's cousin, Amy and her family who live in the same city as us also came. We ate and swam. Verena and gang took off, but Amy and family stayed for awhile to swim. It was fun to visit with them. We then went to finish getting the soccer gear. The boys are so excited for soccer.

Isn't It Hot Outside

Wednesday Dylan wouldn't let Blake and I leave his sports camp. He just wasn't having a great day. So we stayed. Blake had fun watching Dylan and Dylan loved having Blake watch him. Dylan did soccer and t-ball. What did he like better? Soccer.

After driving home in the 100 plus degree weather, the boys decided to pretend that it was cold outside and got some snow gear on. It made me laugh.

Library Show

While Dylan was at his sports camp, Blake and I went to the library for the library show. It was about raptors. So that sounds kind of boring, but this guy who happens to be their vet was really fascinating. He was great with the kids...and adults.

This is a falcon.

A gray screech owl. The owl was so cute. I always see them asleep...obviously right, but she was wide awake. She hated the vet because he was her doctor, so everytime he moved his finger, she would screech.

Barn owl.

A Mississippi kite. Didn't know they were here in Texas.

A red shoulder hawk.

We then went to pick Dylan up. He had fun!

Dylan's Sports Camp

Monday Dylan started his sports camp. He was excited for it. Blake ran around with him before it started. Then we took off and went shopping for school supplies. It was fun to spend time with just Blake because that doesn't happen very often. It's also always nice to only have 1 kid to take shopping.

Imaginations

Monday we had the people I VT over to swim. The kids were inspired from Inside Out and made their own rocket. They can't do anything without dressing up of course. The kids went and played with their friends, we went swimming, went to the library, working on primary stuff and most importantly...went grocery shopping. It was a week of catching up.
