Soccer Game Week 2

March 5 was their second game of the season. We started the day at Home Depot for a project. We ran into our friends the Halls, then the Neumanns came. We found out that we were sitting by 2 other families who were Mormon...they meet in our building, but we didn't know them. Anyway, Dylan's game was first. He was a little bit in LaLa Land. He did try to score some goals, but missed.

Blake's team is really good, but they met their match at this game. Wow. Glad that one is over with.

On Sunday Blake gave a talk in Primary. He did great. He read it all on his own, which is really fun. Later that night we had a baptism. I love the baptisms. This one was kind of fun because her older brother baptized her.

HOA Play Date

That Friday Dylan and I went to the play date in the park that our HOA organizes. It was Dylan and 2 other kids. So sad. They went on a treasure hunt. They each got a map. It was very clever and the kids loved it. There were 6 "X"marks the spots so they got 6 little prizes.

The maps.

Here they are walking the plank.

Picture Day

Wednesday was picture day for the preschool. I thought these 2 buddies looked so cute, so I took a quick picture. Dylan actually wore nice clothes for the picture, unlike the fall pictures, so hopefully these ones will be winners.

Blake's Open House

Blake was well enough for school on Tuesday. He was really bummed that he couldn't go on Monday. Tuesday night was his open house so we all went.

We opted not to purchase his art work for $25. Instead we took a picture. Blake loved showing us around his school.

Soccer Game Week 1

February 27 was the first game of the spring season. Blake's game was first. At 7am we had cleaned the church. Our ward is crazy doing it so early, but we give in to the craziness periodically and help out. .

I should also back up a little and say the day before Dylan woke up at 2am sick. He was fine for his game. He scored 7 goals. Isn't this an interesting picture? How can 4 year olds vary this much in height?

They were so excited. Aaron was in Florida the whole week.

We then went home and got dinner ready. Aaron has a co-worker that he worked with in CA...also names Aaron. Aaron Garcia (some readers know him) and his family moved to Dallas at Christmas so they came over for dinner. The kids got along extremely well and had so much fun. They have 4 kids--3 boys and 1 girl.

Then that night we all got sick. It was terrible. We didn't make it to church...oh it was a terrible day. I got an email from the director of Dylan's preschool saying that a ton of kiddos were sick so they wanted to know who all got sick and they would be reporting this information to the county. So apparently Dylan got it (although his lasted about 12 hours), then gave it to the rest of us. I took Dylan to school on Monday, but Blake stayed home because he wasn't well enough to go...and no one was at Dylan's school. I guess he didn't have it as bad as everyone else got it. Anyway, lets not do that again.

Dessert with Dad

Last Tuesday it rained a lot (2 inches) all day. It was no fun. But that night we had desserts with dad at Dylan's preschool. Aaron was in Florida, so I asked his teachers if Blake and I could come instead and she loved the idea. Dylan was super excited to show Blake his school.

The kids had to decorate a star (the whole theme was their dad is a star) and the dads were supposed to pick them out.

The room had different stations to show all the things they have been working on for dad. The last one was a chair for them and dad along with cookies and milk. They had a really cute frame with a picture of each kid with a white shirt and tie.

Dylan knows his dad..might be slightly off on his height and weight, but I think Aaron liked to hear his "age". Dylan saved a cookie and all his projects for Aaron for when he got back from his trip. Aaron was sad to miss the fun night, but Blake and I sure had fun.

Boys

The boys wanted me to take some pictures of this last Monday.

Really, they wanted to take silly pictures.

Part of their responsibilities is to take the trash cans out and then bring them back in. Monday night we bring them back in so Mr. Dylan wanted another picture.

Every night we read scriptures together. Blake and Dylan have their own copy to follow or read along with. It is fun now because Blake reads by himself now. Anyway, Dylan said, "Um, I am going to read the scriptures on my phone." As much as I love that we have the scriptures on our phones now, I think it is super important for the kids to read actual books also and to know how to turn to find certain books and chapters. No, Dylan doesn't have a phone...this is one of Aaron's old phones, but I don't remember saying that phrase about reading the scriptures on my phone when I was a kid.

Monopoly

Blake decided to make his own version of Monopoly. Aaron left for Florida last Sunday, so we played for a long time after church.

Dylan

Here are some random pictures of Dylan recently. We have been jumping on the trampoline a lot lately. Dylan's hair just love the static electricity.

Every Friday we have a play group with folks from church. We rotate who is in charge. One week I took one picture. Beckett and Dylan are best friends so they pretty much just play with one another the whole time. The girls don't really like to do what the boys are doing, which is why there are no girls in the picture.

Dylan loves to play outside so we spend a lot of time outside.

Last night Dylan had his first soccer practice with his new soccer team. This time it is all boys. There are 6 of them on the team. We found out that one boy, Truit (who names these kids?) not only goes to Dylan's same preschool, but shares the classroom with Dylan. Dylan goes Monday and Wednesday and Truit goes Tuesday and Thursday. They share one teacher, Ms. Christy (she is the main teacher and then has an assistant teacher for M/W and the T/Th class...Dylan has Ms. Shannon and Truit has Ms.Emma on T/Th, who sometimes subs for Ms. Shannon so we know her too) This team seems pretty great and the coach is great with the kids. Dylan really likes the coach and the kids. It was hilarious though because it was super windy at practice, well, all day really. You would put the ball down to kick it and it would blow away. Sometimes this Texas wind can be very strong.

Heard Museum

A couple weekends ago we had a really nice day, so we went to the Heard Museum. The rest of area also had the same idea...it was packed. Our plants and grass here go dormant in the winter. I think it is so ugly and depressing, but on our hike we found this. It might be hard  to tell, but there is a section of red and a section of blue grass. It was really cool in person.

The dinosaurs were going to be leaving the museum soon (they leave before it gets too hot) so we checked them out again.

It had been so cold so I wasn't sure what animals we would see. We saw plenty of turtles. Also happy  to report that we did not see any copperheads.
