Toys

Thursday night I got a call from someone in our ward who wanted to know if we wanted some toys. Her son went through his toys to get rid of stuff he is too old for, and had a collection to give away.

The benefit of being in a ward with not many young kids, is apparently you can  score some fun hand me down toys.

The next morning they played (mostly pretty well) together with their new toys so I could get stuff done.  Happy day!

Ice Cream

Last week when Dylan and I were grocery shopping, I was getting him out of his car seat and he said, "Look at that" and pointed to a McDonald's. He asked, "What is that?" Knowing that he totally knew what it was, I asked him what it was. He said, "McDonald's....I like McDonald's....let's go there." I  told him that if he went potty in the toilet then I would take him there.

A couple days later, he did go in the toilet, so off we went to McDonald's for ice cream.

He was so happy and  proud of himself. After he took care of business in the toilet, he said, "That was awesome!"

He did it again the next day too. He doesn't turn 3 until October, so I am not pushing him, but we will see what happens. At the beginning of the week, we were at the store getting more diapers and he said that he didn't want diapers anymore, so we went and looked at underwear and he picked out Buzz Lightyear underwear. Our little guy is growing up.

Then after, we met Aaron and Blake at the park.

One happy kid!

Dogs in Cars

Aaron ran into Home Depot to grab something real fast, so we waited in the car so that Aaron could run and get it real fast. We parked by a car that had a dog in it. Dylan thought it was the funniest thing ever to see a dog in the drivers seat of a car.

Boy Scouts

You may not know this, because I didn't know this, but apparently my kids are boy scouts.

At least that is what they told me when I found this upstairs the other day. They made their tent, well, Blake made a tent for himself, but he helped Dylan gets blankets.

Blake told me that he needs to get some badges. (merit badges) Who wants to tell him that he still has a couple years?

Any why not sleep right on their stairs?

The Perot Museum

On Thursday we went to the museum in downtown Dallas. The kids love this place.

They also love making art projects.

It was such a nice day, so we were able to spend some time outside digging for dinosaur bones.

Our adventure was successful in wearing out the kids, but it worked too well. On our walk that night, Dylan was apparently too tired to walk, so I carried him and he fell asleep.

Green smoothie, eye doctor and castle

Blake was super excited for St. Patrick's Day for some reason. We had a green smoothie with our corned beef. Blake liked the smoothie, but Dylan wasn't fooled that some fruit was masking the spinach that was also inside the smoothie. However, they both loved the corned beef.

I was downstairs doing some stuff, came upstairs to find the toys dumped out so that Blake could make his castle. Thank you "Frozen" for inspiring this "creativity".

Blake has been sitting closer to the TV lately so I have been trying to find an eye doctor that accepts our insurance and will see a 4 year old. After Blake asking me when he could see an eye doctor, I figured I needed to get him in soon because why does a kid ask to go to the eye doctor. Anyway, we went earlier this week and found that the eye doctor is great with kids, that Blake's vision is 20/25 with an astigmatism that isn't severe enough to warrant getting glasses...yet. The glasses won't make him see a whole lot better so he won't see wearing them as a benefit. We will keep watching to see if he struggles to see things. Since Aaron and I were both blind before Lasik, we know that it is just a matter of time before our kiddos need glasses. Blake did not like getting his eyes dilated, but I think the main reason was because it made everything blurry for him and he couldn't play outside without wearing sunglasses for the rest of the day. I did have to resort to bribery and so we went to McDonald's after our visit (note the toy in his hand from McD's). I also was reminded that I am grateful that Dylan is the one that has to go to the doctor all the time because he does such a better job. (Although I sure wouldn't mind not having to go to so many doctor visits)  Perhaps he is more used to going to the doctor....or, it is just his easy going personality.

Where Me Be?

Dylan is a silly kid. He kind of likes attention and will do something silly to get people to laugh. Must be Aaron's kid huh? Anyway, last night he put his hat over his eyes so he can't see anyone, which to him means that no one else can see him and asks, "Where me be?" Those who can't interpret 2 year old talk, that is where am I?

I know it is blurry, but I love his arms out trying to not run into anything.

A couple nights ago, after our bedtime routine, the boys wanted to watch a video, so they watched one on Aaron's phone. Pretty cute. Who needs a media room when you have dad's phone?

Speaking of movies, we've had some fun movie outings lately. Last week, our friends invited us over to their house to watch Monster University on a giant inflatable tv screen that they had in their backyard. Then our new neighbors (down the street) invited us over along with the other family with young kids in our neighborhood to watch a movie in their nice warm, cozy media room.

Trampoline

One of the things the previous owners of our house left behind was a trampoline. Blake has always loved it and recently, Dylan has loved it too. Sometimes it gets exhausting jumping for so long though.

Thank you trampoline for wearing them out.

Classic Dylan face.  Anyway, while I was making some food in the kitchen, the boys were busy putting puzzles together.

Spring Break

This week is Spring Break. Not really a huge deal since Blake is only in Preschool, but still it gives us more time to play and enjoy this nice weather we are having.

Who knew fake vampire teeth could be so much fun months after Halloween?

Yesterday we went to the park down the street.

They are both getting so big. Dylan has always been fearless.

Sometimes they just like to be silly.

They were super excited to take this picture.

But then Blake found a fallen branch. Side note, we go on a walk every night and the boys always look for sticks and rocks. So finding this huge branch was a big deal.

Highlight of his day.
