The Weekend

I was looking at our weather forecast and saw Friday and Saturday were going to be great days...in the 70s, and then Sunday and Monday were going to be cold. So, Friday afternoon, we took off for the museum to enjoy the weather and get some energy out.

I was taking a picture of the midgets in the chair (pictured above) and a lady asked us if I wanted a picture of the 3 of us.

After we went to the museum, we stopped at our favorite park and ran into some friends who moved across town. It was fun to see them.

Friday night, we were going on our evening walk. We try to do this every night as long as Aaron gets home in time and it isn't too cold. Well, there was a family down our street who had moved in that day and they were outside while we walked past their house on our walk. We stopped to meet them. They are nice and they have a 4 year old girl, Ashley, and 3 year old boy, Carter. His birthday is Oct. 27. So he is almost exactly 1 year older then Dylan. I was excited that we have more young kids in our neighborhood.

Saturday, we went to Home Depot for project time and made these Trojan Horse Banks. It is a character off an upcoming movie.

After Home Depot, we went to Costco, came home to do some yard work while the kids played outside since it was 75 degrees and we could do yard work. Then the kids wanted to go to the park down the street, so we went and on our way back, our new friends were outside. The dad was out entertaining Ashley while the mom was unpacking. So I asked if she could play at our house so both mom and dad could get stuff done. Those with little kids know how little you can get done with kids.Yeah, Aaron and I recently painted our bedroom...I get it.  How much faster could we have gotten it done without kids?  Her brother was sick so he stayed home and watched tv and wasn't in their way anyway. We had fun and wow, Ashley is so mellow. She is going to start kinder next year too at the same school as us.

Then we dropped off Ashley and found a fun package from Grandma and Grandpa. The kids each got a Hawaiian shirt to match Grandpa, some candy (Dylan's favorite part), and some pictures and book from my grandma's 90th birthday party!

Sunday, we woke up and it was cold. Then while at church, we could hear the ice coming down. So glad we bought some ice scrappers a couple months ago. You wouldn't think you need that in Texas. Okay, I didn't think the winters were this much "fun". Monday--everything is cancelled...no school, had to reschedule Dylan's doctor appointment, Aaron has to work from home, play date with other friends cancelled because ALL the kids are home from school. Yes, when we get ice, we close things down. This storm was nothing like our storm in December, but I still like that they close things down when the roads are too icy. Luckily we only have a couple days of freezing, then we are back to our normal temps. I sure hope spring here lasts a really long time.

Sad day at church though because Blake's primary teacher was released and put in as the RS president. Blake loved his teacher and she was perfect for him.
