Monkeys in a Tree

We go to the park and they end up in the tree.

Birthday Party

The Friday before Thanksgiving break, Dylan went to his friend, Tristan's birthday party at Obstacle warriors. Dylan, Tristan and one other kid were the only ones out of 16 kids to go play in the big kid area...all the others were in the little kid area which Dylan thought was too easy.

Tristan and Dylan

After school, we were reading books when Blake's friend Beau showed up at our door. He rode his bike over. It was weird because we schedule all playdates now so it was weird to have him just how up. This is how I played when I was young....nothing really scheduled. Anyway, Dylan got some silly string from the party, so they played with it.

Dallas Holocaust Museum & JFK Memorial

A couple weeks ago while the kids were in school, I went to the Dallas Holocaust Museum. There are no pictures allowed so I only have a picture of the outside. This place was obviously depressing, but also very interesting.

My Dad's Dad (my Grandpa) fought in the war. My Dad has a copy of his war journal, which he sent me a copy of. It is really long, but I read the part of when he went to one of the concentration camp a few days after it was liberated. He described what it was like. So many bodies....I won't go into detail. I found it fascinating to read someone's account of it all who I know. It is so sad what these people went through.

One of the things that stood out to me was the US role in the matter. The US knew what was going on in the camps, but they didn't do anything. They had documentation in the library of them being notified and  the responses on what to do, which was nothing. There were 2 Senators who caught wind of what was happening and started to get our government to work with the British. They had newspaper articles from the Dallas Morning News during the time...nothing about the camps...a little bit about the Japanese. The newspaper was how people got their news.

Very interesting to see how similar what the Nazi's were doing then as some groups do now.

Right across the street is Dealey Plaza. We didn't have time to go into the JFK Memorial, but we walked around the grassy knoll, etc.

The first shot (first X).

The fatal second shot.

The opened window behind me is the window. Second from the top..right hand side.

The second shot..closer.

It was an interesting day.

Dylan's Thanksgiving Feast

November 16 was Dylan's Thanksgiving Feast. I had VT so I was only able to stay for a couple minutes, but he really wanted to be there and well, how cute are these little Indians? Blake had his Thanksgiving Feast the week before and Grandma and Grandpa came to that. Fun times at school.

New Park

A couple days later we went to a new park that our HOA built. I didn't think it was very impressive, but Dylan liked it and it was close.

Airplane Park

A couple weeks ago, I took Dylan to the park. It was a beautiful day, but there were a ton of spider webs.

So we went to the park by our house.

Headlamps

A couple weeks ago my mom and I spent the morning looking for fabric. She is making me a new window treatment for the playroom. The plan is to paint the room too.

That day after school grandma and grandpa came over to give the boys headlamps that they found at Walmart for $1. They wore them all day long.

Half Marathon #2

6 days after my first half, my friend was over and asked if I was going to run the local half marathon the following weekend...in the city that I live in. I hadn't heard of this race. I thought about it, but didn't think I would do it because my knees were killing me after that last half. But 2 days later Aaron convinced me to run it, so I signed up.

My mom took me while the boys did a Home Depot project, then came to the race. They were all there at the finish line. Aaron and the boys were at soccer games the last race, so they were excited to be there.

I liked this race so much more then the 1st one so I was glad that I did it. I ran better--3 minutes faster, but I had fun at this one. It was all paved...mostly really pretty scenery too.

Grandpa bought donuts for everyone for after the race. That made them very happy.

I ended up seeing several people at the race that I knew. Now the weather is getting pretty cold so I don't think I will be doing any races until Spring. However, Blake and I might run a 5k  together in a couple weeks.

Fun with Cousins

Friday, November 4, the Stotts came over after school while their mom went to the eye doctor.

The kids played zoombies.

Riley didn't really like that, but she loved looking at our pool.

After dinner we went to a frozen yogurt place for an end of the year party for Blake's team. His team got 2nd place...they are no keeping score. Go Dragons.

Ladders are Fun

Aaron and I painted the ceiling one night, then the next day while the kids were at school, I painted the walls. After school, Dylan came to check things out, found the ladder and created some exercises to do and some games to play.
