Austin Day 3

Thursday morning we rented a jet ski and went out on the lake. We were out early in the morning so we basically had the lake to ourselves. It was beautiful and there were some amazing houses to look at.

We were cruising along and we see this helicopter above us...then he goes in to land on his property. We both had never seen a helicopter land that close in real life (on tv doesn't count). It was an amazing house.

This gives you an idea of the cliffs. This limestone is everywhere...they call it Austin limestone and they use it on most of the houses.

This is the resort from the lake.

Since they are such steep cliffs, they use elevators to get up and down. We had to use the stairs, but thought this was interesting.

Then we went to the pool again to hang out. We relaxed in the cabana and swam.

This is the adult pool. It has 3 pools..one overflows into the other. It was very cool and had a great view. We sat in there for a long time.

Then we had dinner at the Oasis based on some friends' recommendations. It is right on the lake and the food wasn't bad either.

Such a pretty view while eating.

Austin Day 2

Wednesday morning I went running and about 2 minutes into my run I saw a deer. Then when I got back from my run I saw more deer at the resort. It is dark because it is way too early in the morning and I couldn't get too close. Crazy--so many deer.

We went on a hike that morning. Since there are hills we could do a real hike..like actually change elevation. It was great, but we were so hot because it was in the 90s at 9am in the morning and really humid.

So when we got back, we went to the pool. We hung out at the pool most of the day and swam, ate and relaxed. What a life huh?

The slide was a lot of fun. We asked the lifeguard how much the slide cost and he said around $60,000.

We went out to dinner and when we came back....more deer.

15th Anniversary Trip Day 1

On Tuesday we dropped the kids off at school with Grandma and Grandpa in charge of the kiddos while we drove down to Austin to celebrate our anniversary...a little early.

On our way to the resort, we stopped at an Escape Room. This place had several different rooms that all had a theme. We did the Sherlock Holmes room. We did make it out. This one was different because there were clues in the room that were worthless...so sneaky, but more realistic.

We stayed in a resort on Lake Travis. I guess this is called Hill Country for a reason. This has crazy hills...this is Texas right?! The resort had a really fun slide which we went on several times.

We were right on the lake, but the cliffs are crazy. It was so pretty.

Soccer Games

Saturday (Sept. 17) the boys played soccer. It was incredibly hot. They didn't play well because they were so hot.

Dylan played well the 1st quarter and then he was done (so were we), so we were all happy when the game was over and we could get in our car with AC and go home and jump in the pool.

Colton's Birthday Party

Friday night Blake went to Colton's birthday party. They had the party at a Ninja Warrior place...based on the TV show. Blake loved it and it wore him out. I picked him up at the end so I wasn't able to get too many pictures and I didn't even get a picture of the birthday boy.

Rained Out

September 10 our soccer games were canceled because it was pouring rain. We were able to get lots done because it only rained in the morning, so by the afternoon we were swimming.

The following week someone I visit teach had to move suddenly, so I went around the city collecting boxes and helped her pack. I'm going to miss her.

We also had our RS night, which I actually went to. Applause please because I rarely go, but this one was interesting--haircuts, bath salts and healthy lunches for kiddos.

That Thursday, September 15 my folks got into town. They are living with us for a couple weeks and then moving into an apartment for 3 months.

Drama at the Park

A couple weeks ago I took Dylan to the park and he was in a war with water guns...he was down.

Such an actor.

Brothers

I was making dinner and I heard Blake reading to Dylan. It was cute. I like the times when they are good friends much better when they are not good friends.

They had their soccer practice that night. They practice right next to Blake's school, so I attended Blake's curriculum night while Aaron and the boys were at practice. I didn't want to go to curriculum night, but Blake insisted I go. I did learn some stuff so I guess it was helpful. I also saw the principal for the middle school that Blake would go to, so I picked her brain on some stuff. She is the wife of Dylan's first soccer coach, but she also has a 2nd grader so we seem them at the school and around town. She's great and it was nice to pick her brain. 2nd grade seems like a big year so I'm glad Blake has such a good teacher.

1st Day of Pre-K

Dylan had his first day of Preschool on Tuesday. He goes to the same preschool as last year, but is now in the Pre-K class and goes Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. He is going to learn a lot this year, so I am excited. It is also nice to have a chance to get stuff done.

He was so excited for school and he loves that he doesn't have any rest time.

Side note: Our nephew Jordan, got his mission call to Orem, Utah. Crazy that he is old enough for a mission. Where does time go?

Also, we got a call from Blake's teacher last week. I never get calls from his teacher, but she was just calling to say how much she loves Blake and what a good kid he is. Every week as a family we talk about how things are going at school...if there are any kids who are mean, if anyone seems sad, any new kids, etc. Well, there are a couple new kids this year and Blake has made friends with all of them and has included them in his group for recess. I think that is awesome...but one of the kids I'm not certain that he is the best example. Hmmmm.

A Snake!

Last week the boys soccer practice was canceled because it was raining, so it made going to Dylan's preschool orientation easier. I got to meet his teachers, Ms. Cherie and Ms. Kim. They are great. He has 2 friends in the class from last year. Friday morning Dylan and I went to meet his teachers. He is excited that there is no rest time at all this year!

Friday night our babysitter came over to watch the kids and we went with a bunch of friends and played whiryball. It was so fun. We had 21 people and we played for 2 hours so we each got to play plenty of games.

Saturday morning my friend and I had plans to go run a portion of the trail for our half marathon. She is a late riser so she was going to bring her almost 2 year old over to our house to play with the boys while we ran, but that didn't happen at 7am as planned. I called her at 7:30 and woke her up. We got a later start so it was plenty hot. Here is a reason why I don't run trails....there was a rather large snake on the trail while I was running. It was gross. The next time I run there it will be with lots of other people so I'm sure we won't have any close encounters with snakes. We parked right by this cool park. We went swimming and watched a movie.

Monday was Labor day so we did some stuff around the house and went swimming. It was nice to have a day off.
