Trip to Houston Day 2 Part 2

Here are the pictures from my other camera.

One of the super fun things at this museum is Kidtropolis. It is a city for kids. You get an ATM card and you go and get a job (grocer, banker, investigator, manager/cook/server at the restaurant, vet, artist, store clerk at the bike shop, etc). You get a paycheck which you can put on your card...you even have to create a pin number for your card. Then you can spend your money on groceries, get a loan to buy a house, buy a bike, etc. I love this area because it shows them what life is like....well, in a simplified version.

There is even a city council that you can attend and  then vote. It has a place to pay your property taxes.

I really liked the bank. I love how it explained it to kids..if they actually take the time to read it.

But they have it set up so that you can really learn it. They had a clever game too.

The tablet had an amortization schedule on it. Yep, I am that cool mom that thinks this stuff is fun.

The restaurant was fun. They had a menu, then the server had paper to write down the order and then they went over to the computer to enter in what was ordered and the total price.

They even washed the dishes from my order.

Blake had fun doing some work with circuits.

Grant is such a good big brother...he even straps in his sister.

And then there is Dylan, not only does he not use the seat belt, but he stands on it.

Karen and I thought they would spend maybe 2 minutes in this room, but we learned that they could spend hours in whatever room as long as they were together...they had the best time together.

We went outside to their water works place. It was hot, but they loved it.

Then they did the ropes course.

I love it, Blake was "prepping" Dylan.

Poor guy slipped a little on the rolling log. So the rope burned his neck a little. He still finished.

We came back to the hotel and went to dinner with Aaron. In case you were wondering, there are a lot of homeless people in downtown Houston. Okay, nothing compared to San Francisco, but enough to make me glad that the hotel had a gym for me to run in so that I didn't have to go run outside.
