Fall Festival

Saturday it rained so soccer was canceled. We did haircuts and then got ready to go to a Halloween deal at the church that I teach at. Dylan couldn't decide what to dress up as, so he wrote down the possibilities and then tried on each one and crossed them off until he decided on an Old Man.

Old man, software pirate and a ninja.

The trick or treated and then did some games.

I saw 4 of my kids from school and lots of the teachers. The Neumann's were also there.

We came home, ate dinner and then Aaron and I went to a Haunted House with the Neumann's and Jeffrey's. We went to the same one as we did last year, but they had redone it. It was really good.

Sunday: I have become friends with Whitney Kenney. Her family moved here from Westminster, CA. The day they got into our city, her water broke--she was 10 weeks early. So she was on best rest in the hospital. I met her in the hospital. To make a long story short. She was on her mission in Peroria Illinois at the same time as my brother, James. And James and Whitney (and their families) had gone to their mission reunion in July and saw each other, etc. I actually then saw James while we were out in CA visiting family the day that he got back from that reunion. Then a couple weeks later I met Whitney. It took me about 6 weeks to find out this connection. So Whitney showed me pictures of her with James's wife Shannon and James showed me pictures of the reunion--with both their families.

To make the world even smaller. Whitney's husband blessed her son yesterday. Her mom was able to come --she is on a mission in Australia. Her mission president is President Vidmar--who was in my stake growing up. We went and had dinner at Whitney's house where I talked with her mom about the Vidmar's. Small world huh?

Airplane Park

Last Monday we had the day off of school. In the morning, Blake had his orthodontist appointment. He had 2 new brackets put on the teeth that he lost and that have finally grown in all the way. He has about 2-4 months left.

After the appointment, we went to the park.

Then we went grocery shopping, but couldn't get too much because we didn't have much space in our fridge! We came home after and the boys played and played. Good day off of school.

Keeping Busy

We put together our candy Haunted House while listening to conference.

During the break we went on a bike ride and then the boys did some work...yep, those keyboards aren't connected to anything.

Then we ate some of the house. Aaron said, "Dylan, you are very messy." Dylan responded, "It's my job to be messy". True fact.

Hudson's Party

The next week was busy. The boys had evaluations for basketball. They measure Blake at 60 inches. They did great. Then we went home and had them try on their pants...Blake really has grown. He had outgrown all his pants, so Dylan got a lot of new pants from Blake, which was good because he has grown a lot too. That week I had to go shopping and get more pants and long sleeved shirts for Blake.

Thursday night we had Open House at preschool. The kids loved showing their parents all their work. As I was making dinner, I noticed that our food in the fridge wasn't cold. Our fridge was broken. Thankfully we have an extra fridge in our garage!

Friday was our 17th anniversary. Aaron took the day off and we went to the temple, then went to lunch and then went shopping for a new fridge. We found a fridge, but it wouldn't come for a couple days.

After dinner that night, we all went swimming...it was the last swim of the season. Sad times, I wish we could swim still.

Saturday Dylan played a game. Dylan's team is really good. They destroy the other teams even when our coach forces them to pass the ball 3, 4, or 5 times before they score. Well, this opponent on Saturday was actually good. Dylan's team did win, but they had to work. It was a good game.

After the game we drove over to Hudson's party. We saw max and Jake there for the party...Dylan's 2 best buddies.

He had fun. We dropped him off.

I picked him up and it started to pour rain. But on the drive home I saw a rainbow...that was fun.

We watched conference and enjoyed it. The kids' response when they heard the announcement about 2 hour church...."Yes, this means more time to play!" We are obviously teaching them properly. Haha.  Although I think we all are pretty excited for the change.

Crape Myrtle Race

Our school district puts on a race every year. The school gets $5 for each participant from that school. Our school got 2nd place. Here are some of the kids who ran. We had a ton of parents who ran. This year I ran with them because last year that decided to jog with Kenny, which was just too slow. If I was paying money for them to race, then I wanted them to race so I ran to encourage them. I'm so mean.

I'm glad I did run with them though to help push them. They just haven't really learned how to race in a mile run.

I stopped right before the finish line since I didn't pay to run.

They both did awesome. They had a great kick at the end and they got just under 9 minutes for a mile. The trail was terrible--too many people so there were huge bottlenecks and you couldn't get through quick. Did that both the kids? Not at all.

We came home, ate lunch and then went to Dylan's soccer game. 5 minutes into the game it started to pour, but they let them finish the game because there was no lightening. The boys loved playing in the rain (it was still hot out), but the spectators didn't like it.

Picture Day

This is what the boys wore for their picture day. Blake had no handsome shirts that fit him so I had to go hunt. It was impossible. There were no short sleeved handsome shirts. Where did I end up finding this? The Thrift Store. They are a good brand and barely worn and super cheap. I was excited and then I found a cane for Dylan for his Halloween costume as an old man. Dylan has been looking for a cane since his 100th day of school last school year. I told him that we need to find it for a good deal and then I would buy it. Well, it was $2. Done. He was so happy.

Anyway, the school changed the company who takes their pictures. I went online to order the CD and it was triple in price. WHAT?! Um, no thanks. Jerks. I was not happy.

Earlier in the week I left work, went right over to the kids' school and got them our early and  took them to their dentist appointment. They both didn't have cavities, so we were all happy.

Frogs

This is the first year that we have had a lot of frogs in our yard. I have never seen a frog in our pool, but I went outside one morning to check on something and found a frog swimming around.

Beckett's Birthday Party

The next week Aaron went to Richmond Virginia. He was there the day when 3 tornadoes touched down in Richmond. He spent a couple of hours in the stairwell of the office. Fun times.

Thursday--Blake had his field trip...already. They went to Dallas Museum of Art. That night Blake had his Pack meeting.

Friday night it rained and rained and it didn't stop until Saturday night. Soccer game canceled again. And Blake woke up and threw up so he wasn't able to go to Beckett's birthday party, but Dylan went and had so much fun.

They are such cute buddies.

The next morning I woke up and didn't feel good. I never threw up, but I couldn't stand up--I was totally dizzy. I tried to make it to church because it was my turn to teach, but I couldn't do it, so Aaron taught my lesson. Then the next day Aaron wasn't feeling good. It was no fun my friends, but the timing could've been a lot worse. I didn't have to miss any work and only Dylan missed one day of school. Dylan didn't mind missing school. That poor kid is so bored at school. He says it is too easy. We have our parent teacher conference in a week. We got a progress report for the kids. Yep, Dylan is bored--he is getting really good grades. Blake is doing great too. Blake really loves to learn and loves to tell me about what he is learning.

Soccer Games

This week Aaron was in CA. He got back late Thursday night. At about 2:45am Friday morning Dylan came in our room and said that he didn't feel good and then threw up. That was fun. There was a stomach bug going around at school...we had dodged it for awhile, but it finally got Dylan. So, he stayed home from school that day. I had to get my teeth cleaned, so it was nice that Aaron got home the night before and was working from home.

Saturday..our first game. Well, the 1st game was rained out so this game was the first game we got to play. We have had so much rain this year!! One day we got 8 inches in a 12 hour period.

Anyway, Dylan did pretty good considering he was throwing up the day before. We probably shouldn't have let him play. We came home from the game and everyone but Dylan went swimming and then we all watched the BYU game since it was at a decent hour.

Swimming

School kind of gets in the way of swimming, but we still tried to take advantage of the hot weather when we could.

Preschool

The day after Labor Day was  the first day of preschool. My co-teacher is Ms. Lya and we are a pretty amazing team. I really like her.

We have 11 friends in our class. We are supposed to have 12, but one friend wasn't fully potty trained (this is age 4 folks) so he had to drop out. They are still working on filling that spot. We only have 4 girls in the class. The kids are great and I will say, I like the 4s a lot more then the 2s class. The 2s are very cute, but you can do so much more with the 4s. We only have class Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It is pretty great and it works well for our family life. This week Aaron was out of town and then the following week and then the week after that. This week Aaron was in Orlando for a couple of days. He was able to go to the Magic Kingdom for an hour one night. One night we went out to dinner with the Ririe's. We went to Hutchins, which is a favorite of ours. Jaren took a picture of us and texted it to Aaron to make him jealous, but well, Aaron was having a fabulous meal in Orlando that was paid for by his company. I'm sure we still had more fun.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was pretty relaxing. Friday night we went over to our friends' house for a swim party and BBQ. The Ririe's are from SoCal. We love hanging out with them. Their parents were in town too and they are hilarious.

We went swimming on Saturday, but it rained on Monday so we went to pump it up. The kids love this place. They get so much energy out.

Earlier in the week we went to a going away party for our friends, the Smart family. Amber and I ran a half marathon together and was a secretary of mine in Primary. They are moving to Washington. So sad to see them go.

I had more training for work, we had our parent teacher orientation and meet the teacher.
