SF Day 6

While researching what things we should do on our trip to SF, I discovered that the museum that was across the street from our hotel was part of the museum program that we belong to which means we could get in for free with our museum membership. So on Wednesday, we walked across the street played on the playground until the museum opened, and then went inside. The Children's Creativity Museum is fabulous. It is a small museum and it doesn't look like kids could spend a long time, but wow, my boys loved it. Their philosophy at the museum is to have things very hands on to cultivate innovation and creativity.

The first thing they did was make moves with a green screen.

The slide they went down for their movie.

Then we went to the robot room. We spent an hour there. You can program the robots to draw, play music, and go in a maze. The kids got their own IPad (yes, they used an Apple product...don't tell Aaron).

Blake enjoyed it more then Dylan, but Dylan still loved it.

Next we went to another room where they give you a box full of random items and a piece of paper that tells you what you need to creative with the items in your box. Blake was to build a villain that could destroy all of SF. Dylan was to create a pizza. These are age appropriate...but Dylan wanted to do a super hero if Blake was doing a villain, but still use the pizza theme. The boys  came up with the ideas on what to do and how to build it. I did help them tape some of the stuff together, but that's it.

Dylan's has a pizza cape (those are pepperonis on his cape).

Blake's villain. The lab worker asked Blake to explain it to her and to tell her what made him a villain and he said, "He plays evil music." Blake said the Norton Anti-Virus was a CD with music. Anyway, pretty creative.

They loved creating these projects.

We then went to a room that has about 16 brain teasers.

We checked out the room that had lights that moved with your movements.

They put on a puppet show.

This was in their "Mold it" section. It was so cool. I would compare it to rice krispies. You could mold it into anything and it wasn't messy.

I didn't get a picture of actual creations...just balls. Oh well.

Then outside you can paint with water

And figure out how to use these pipes to get the water down.

Then they created their own fort.

We then played at the park, then went and got our hot chocolate.

I was looking at the area where we were going to meet Aaron for dinner and noticed it was close to the Wells Fargo history museum, so we went there before dinner. The boys went in and on the stage coach.

They saw old money and gold.

The museum was inside a branch office and was much bigger then I was expecting. I've got more pictures of other items in the museum. It was very interesting. We then went over to dinner with Aaron.
