JFK Memorial

Friday morning I took the kids to the gym at the hotel because they think that is the most fun thing to do at a hotel, then we ate breakfast. Aaron then headed to work and we headed to Dealey Plaza to see where JFK was killed. Blake studied JFK earlier in the year for school so I thought it would be fun for him. Also Blake needed to visit an historical site in Texas for the Texas Badge that he is working on for scouts. They went together as a pack to an historical site when we were in CA. It was a mile walk from the hotel and luckily it was not super sunny..but it was humid.

We then walked over to the JFK Memorial, which is a couple blocks away.

The citizens of Dallas paid for this open tomb for JFK. The building behind this is the courthouse...I was curious so I looked.

We were walking back and came across this...Rosa Parks Plaza.

We were very hot at this point so we went into a CVS and then determined that we would head to Aaron's office, but they weren't there so we went over to the Dallas Museum of Art. We knew we only had about 30 minutes. I am not into art so I had very low expectations, but it was free and figured we might as well go check it out since we were there. It was actually pretty cool. They had more artifacts then they did have art---like on a canvas (the not as interesting kind of art for me).

Cool room for kids.

A place for  them to create their own art. The blocks are magnetic. Very cool.

The artifacts were cool. There was a section on the Founding Fathers that I really wanted to go into, but we didn't have time. We went over to the hotel, got our car and drove a couple miles to lunch at a BBQ place called Pecan Lodge. Aaron's co-workers were there too. It was good, but once again, no ice cream like our favorite BBQ place Hutchins. We then headed back home. It was a fun short little trip. We got to check out some places in downtown that we have never seen.
